Two which I use are: Babel Fish Translation PROMT-Online Of course, the above are no subsitute for help offered by native-born speakers, like our good friend francois. Hope this helps. They work ok when you want to know approximately what a web page in a language foreign to your own says, but you should never attempt to use them to translate FROM your own language into another, simply because the machine is not able to understand what connotation of a particular word you are after. A simple example - try to translate the single English word "file" into German or French - now, the engine is forced to use only ONE connotation of the word file. There is no guarantee or indication that it is the same connotation you are actually intending. Have a look at the following list of connotations from Merriam Webster to see my point: The more words a phrase contains, and the more original it is, the more problems it will cause the translation engine.
