Visa Help Needed

Featured Replies

I am appealing on behalf of a friend of mine who has been here on a year overstay.

Basically, he was sacked from his job Christmas last year (2007) and his yearly extension (Non Imm 'B') was cancelled. He never left the country and now he is facing up to the reality that he'll have to 'face the music' with Immigration. He is thinking of going to Immigration next week and admit his year's overstay. He is expecting to pay a fine of B20,000 and be given 7 days to leave.

He is married but doesn't have B400K to show to get an extension based on marriage and doesn't have a marriage certificate.

Silly boy, but what should he do? Tourist visa from Jack golf? Double TV from Laos? Non O single entry from KL, Penang or Singapore? Get to Perth and try for a Non Imm O multi entry?

On his behalf, many thanks.

I would not go to Immigration , if it was me i would book a cheap flight out of Thailand and pay 20k at the airport,

maybe fly to lao and get a 60 day tourist visa,

I have heard of a few horror storys about turning up at Immigration in bkk with big overstays,

I am sure you will get some real good advise from the peeps on here ,

best of luck

I would think he would be better off booking a flight and going straight to the airport and paying his fine there.

Once he is out of the country he will be able to go somewhere and get a Tourist Visa. Without a Marriage Certificate he will not get a Non Imm O Visa.

Vientienne will give a double TV. Penang an KL a single.

Don't forget the ticket out. he will have to show that when he pays the overstay.

Why doesn't he have a marriage certificate if he is married, or do you mean he had a Thai ceremony but they didn't register at the ampur? Without it it will be tourist visas.

He went through a ceremony but didn't get a certificate from the Amphur.

Would he get an Non Imm O multi from Perth Australia?

Unlikely as he is not Married. They may issue based on visiting friends.

Anyway his first priority is to get out of the country without being arrested.

He could always contact Perth and find out. Details on this page.

I suppose he is not married under Thai law then as he didn't go to the amphur. I was thinking the same thing. Get a double TV from Laos, return and go to UK embassy etc etc get a marriage cert from the amphur and then get to Perth at his leisure. Anyone agree that that would be the best advice?

I have always been on Non Imm visas and not too sure about TVs. How long does a double entry TV last for and can it be extended?

Thanks again.

Each entry is for 60 days and can be extended for a further 30 days. Giving almost 6 months total. Enough time to sort himself out and get Married which will give him more options.

Yes the 2 entry TV is the best option. He could get a oneway to Vientiane and come back by land to save money.

It is possible to ge a multi O in KL or Penang after he gets married.

Thanks Joe & Lite Beer. When I was in KL for my Non O multi, they wanted to see B400K in the bank.

Does the Thai embassy in Vientiane issue double entry TVs on the same day as application?

Sorry if these questions have been asked b4, but we are newcomers to TVs.

It's overnight. Apply morning get back the next afternoon at 1.

The reports from KL vary some nothing, some money but no fixed amount or like your case.

Penang can be done using an agent.

OK. Thanks to everyone. He has decided to go to Laos for a double TV, sort himself and then get to Perth in his own time.

Don't forget he has to leave by air to Laos!  Leaving by land can be very problematic.  If he gets stopped at a check point he can and will be arrested and sent to Bangkok for deportation to his home country!

Actually the clearance in Bangkok before departing is the best route, as then there can be no surprises unless he has an arrest warrant in his name!

Been there done that
