The Red Cross is appealing for people with the following blood types to contact them, and donate blood to help those injured in the events at Phuket yesterday:

The Blood Donation details are:

URGENT! BLOOD GROUP NEEDED FOR HELP PEOPLE ARE INJURED " SUMATRA EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMIS IN THAILAND"

On-site blood collection. Eligible blood donors of any blood group, especially Rh negative group, can come to the National Blood Center to give blood any day at these times:

Weekdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Saturdays and other official holidays 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

Sundays 12:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

It is a little bit chaotic so please budget 3-5 hours, and be patient. Many Thais helping in the organization but the facilities are not up to the volume to people donating.

The place is on the street that goes from Patpong to Siam Square, very easy to find. Parking is allowed anywhere around the building.

Rh negative Blood ..REQUIRED.. !!!

Rh negative blood is urgently needed for injured foreigners who survive from tsunamis disaster. Eligible blood doners, especially Rh negative group, please come to donate at the National Blood Center as soon as possible from 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. everyday from now.

Assistance to Victims of Tsunami in the South of Thailand

On December 26, 2004 , the strongest earthquake for the past 40 years hit the southern part of Thailand causing a massive tidal wave (Tsunami) of over five meters high crashing into the Andaman coastal provinces of Phuket , Phangnga , Krabi , Trang , Satun and Ranong. Almost 1,010 persons have been confirmed killed and 7,572 have been injured.

On December 27, 2004 , the Relief and Community Health Bureau of the Thai Red Cross Society through the Sirindhorn Red Cross Health Station in Thungsong , Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province , dispatched a relief team together with 400 relief supplies to assist victims in Phangnga Province. Moreover, a medical team from the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital of the Thai Red Cross by Dr. Amnat Balee, Director of the Relief and Community Health Bureau has been sent to provide 1,000 emergency relief to the victims in Phuket Province.

The public in Thailand wishing to make donations to assist the victims, both in cash , can contact, 24 hours around the clock, the Relief and Community Health Bureau first floor , 1871 Henry Dunant Road , Bangkok , Tel. 0-2251-7853-6 ext. 1102.
