What Are These Buildings

Featured Replies

Hi

I am curious about 2 buildings I pass regularly in Bangkok. I assume they are Royal buildings but maybe someone on thai.visa knows?

1-What’s the royal building on Phayathai behind Siam Discovery

2-Samsen Sen Road, close to Saphan Sanghe (Krung Thon Bridge)

Thanks

Might be listed on here somewhere: http://www.eppo.go.th/index_thaigov.html Why don't you just walk up to the building and see what it says at the entrance?

Both are palaces. I believe that the former is the residence of Princess Sirinthon, and the latter is the residence of the Crown Prince.

Yes, the complex behind Siam Paragon/Discovery is Princess Singrinhorn's residence. There is also a restored palace/museum of the King's mother there that is open to the public I believe.

As for the 2nd, I'm not sure which bridge you are talking about but adjacent to one of the bridges is a restored palace that now functions as the Bank of Thailand museum and is open to the public and is a nice place to visit/tour.
