Tried to source answer through TV search and on the Thai immigration website but no luck!

My friend has a tourist visa and wants to apply for a 30 day extension around Isaan area as he will be in Khon Kaen about the time it is due.

It seems to me that he could go to a border checkpoint.

Can anyone confirm if this is possible? and how it's done.

Nong Khai immigration office.

Korat immigration office.

No immigration office in Khon Kaen. Nong Khai to the North and Korat to the South both have imm offices where you should be able to get extensions.

If he's going to go as far as Nong Khai, he could cross the border and just get a new visa.

Yeah, if he has an extra 1,5000 Baht to blow on a Lao visa to do so!

Why do that when you can get one free at the Nong Khai office? Doesn't compute. :o

I think you have an extra zero in the price for the visa. 1500 baht or $35 US.

An extenion will cost 1900 baht at immigration.

I stand corrected. Computer error, of course. :o

Extension cost: I know that an Immigrant non-B visa extension will cost 1900 baht; same for a tourist visa extension?

Nakhon Sawan to Tak...............246 K

Nakhon Sawan to Ayutthaya.........182 K

Acording to Google Maps.

I can also take the train to Ayutthaya, which is only 50 baht if I take the commuter train.

I will have to give them a call to see if they can do a tourist visa extension.

Thanks for the info
