KALASIN: -- A cold spell hit this northeastern province Sunday morning with merry at the mountain areas dropped to 4 Celsius degree, officials said.

Local weather officials said the temperature near the Phuphan Mountains dropped to C degree while the temperature on the low land ranged between 9 to 11 degrees in the morning.

Witthaya Makpan, chief disaster prevention and mitigation officer of Kalasin, said some 100,000 poor people in the province need blankets.
