I'm re-visiting this topic again. Before they scrapped this not exceeding 90 days thingy, the Royal Thai Embassy used to issue a TR on the condition that you must stay out of Thailand for 2 months before they allow you to apply your 2nd TR. In other words, no back to back TR like Vientiane.

Now that the 90-day thingy has gone, will Thai Embassy in Singapore still insist on a 2-month window period (outside Thailand) before they approve your TR ?

Just arrived from Singapore yesterday with my TR, which I applied for it on the 2nd of January where most of the Thai Consulates around the world were closed but not the one in Singapore due to the Singaporean law, which prohibited the employees from having more than twenty days a year for holidays as the staff informed me.

The guard at the gate handed me a piece of paper with a list of requirement for the TR, including the air ticket and S$ 1000 cash, which supposed to be officially checked by the Embassy staff but there was nothing in it about any other condition for the visa; however no body asked me to present it nor I have been asked to show any of the requirements mentioned earlier, despite being one of only two applicants, which give them plenty of time to give me a hel_l of questions if they wanted to; but the lady was very nice, wished me happy new year and asked me to collect my passport on the fifth of January after the weekend.

Although the requirements are there, but it seems to me that they treat individuals in a case by case basis, so there is no magic answers to every question, and the whole situation depend on your luck, appearance, age, nationality, and/or some other factors.

Give it try if you wish but just be prepared for any result. Good luck. :o

Well, good luck to you. My question remains. Yes, that with the 90-day limit scrapped does the embassy in Singapore still insist on a 60-day window period before they issue a fresh TR?

There is no law requires you to be out of Thailand for two month or even two days in order to get a TR, however rules and requirements are often made by individuals in any official department in Thailand including Embassies and Consulates, and as I have mentioned earlier it is all depend on case by case situation, therefore there is no definite answer for your question, as what a person have gone through does not necessarily means that every body has to face it; all what you can do is trying if you have the time and resources otherwise just go to Kuala Lumbur, Kota Bahru or Vientiane, where the last two gives you double entries without any question.

We all know it's not a law, but it's a rule imposed by the embassy in Singapore. If you had tried to ask the Muslim lady if it would be possible for you to apply for a back to back TR upon expiry of your original TR, she would have told what I have been trying to ask.

If you happen to have a back to back TR granted by the embassy in Singapore, your experience will be highly relevant to my post. BTW, Vientiane does not grant double-entry to anyone. Fellow ASEAN citizens will now get a single entry from Vientiane since it's free.

Well, I am the one who posted this information, sometimes ago from my wife (Singaporean) experience, and it's not only Vientiane, but anywhere else even when she offered to pay for the visa.

And if you already know the answer for your question then why you have posted it in the first place? changing the 90 days rules has nothing to do with any visa rules. And if I have had asked the Muslim lady whether she will give me a back to back visa and her answer was yes or no, that does not necessarily means that she will treat everybody else in the same way. I have seen people denied the visa for some silly reasons and I have seen people getting a visa, which if I had been the consul I would have never give it to them.

Furthermore, I have heard many complains about the same lady in the Embassy, but from my experiences with her, she was nothing but gentle and very helpful, and that was the reason for me to say the whole situation depend on a case by case basis.

I have the time and I will give it try after my visa expires, but that will take sometimes from now, and as you admitted before (it's not a law, but it's a rule imposed by the embassy in Singapore) this will not be very helpful if they granted me the visa and denied others or vice versa.

Have a nice day

Yes, please the next time if you visit Singapore for a TR when your first TR expires, please post and tell us the outcome. It'll be highly relevant to my post.

I do not know the answer for my question. I don't know where you get the idea that I have the answer. I'm not even sure if the policy of a 2-month window has anything to do with the previous 90-day rule. Which is why I'm seeking to find out if anything has changed. The Vientiane issue is just to point out to you that it's no longer true that they will issue double-entry without any question asked.

You answer is loud and clear, and like you say it's case by case basis, I will consider your experience on a case by case basis too. Thank you for posting.

I would now like to hear from others with experiences directly relevant to my question. For the benefit of others, the 2-month window period is a rule that the embassy in Singapore imposes on anyone applying for a second TR, not just me.
