GungaDin
Would you like double spacing between the words? It is in plain English, ask a Brit or an Aussie. Edited January 14, 2009 by GungaDin
thaicbr
Look in the Bangkok post it has advertising for many car hire firms and i believe at least 2 rent out pickup trucks or 'utes' as you colonials call them
mrtoad
In a lot of the Sois you will see homemade signs on electric pole or lamposts, these are often people trying to rent out their car or truck. Ask a Thai that you know to have look at the Signs.
keemapoot
Budget in Bangkok rents pickup trucks. Look at their website you can reserve online and they'll deliver to you.

"bog standard ute" doesn't mean much to those who have never lived in rural aussie.

GungaDin
Gentlemen (& others) This is a bog standard ute. Note the absence of rear quarter windows and pygmy seats. Budget & Hurts only have the Vigo, which is as useless as a tit on a bull. You couldn't even get a single matress in the rear tray. I need the rental and we've tried the sign on a post routine without success , so far. Still trying..... Need 2 drivers and 2 helpers with their own utes/vans. The job is pick up behind Emporium and deliver to Phuttamonton Sai 3, Saturday the 17th All over in 3-4 hours. No heavy furniture, just lots of small boxes, dvd player, scanner, printer etc. etc. oh, and 1 very small fridge. BKK Post I cannot get out here. Guys, many , many thanks for trying to help. GungaDin
Well, no luck so far. The cardboard signage guys @ On Nut 77, wanted 8000bt for 3 hours work . 8Kb is taking the p*ss, I'd pay 4Kb if pushed! I can't even get a Vigo let alone a Standard ute for personal use this weekend. Tried Budget, Hertz, Quality car rentals, Thai Prestige and 'Googling' Bangkok Post not stocked at Carrefour Mall or On Nut BTS. Could someone list some names & numbers from the BP? Thanks
