Hi guys and girls, my dream is very close to reality now, to work and live in Thailand!

The company i will be working for are providing all the information with regards to my visa and work permit.

All i ask, is there any thing i need to know/do before i leave the UK besides making sure i have all the relevant injections/jabs??

i have tried to search on this forum but can't find exactly what i'm looking for.

Thanks for any information given in advance, Karl :o

Be sure you understand the cultural do's and don'ts and adhere to them. You will be much more accepted, respected and liked if you respect them as much as possible.

Good luck and hope you have a successful transition!

May one ask what you will be working as here?

Will you be working in Bangkok? If so my advice would be not to rent a place under 15,000 baht per month, well centrally near where i live anything under that amount was not at all nice. I secured a one bed in a new block, security, swimming pool, sauna etc on a nice street with walking distance to Siam, Pratunam, Pantip etc for 15,000 on a 3 month contract.

Good on you, all the best

Be sure to fill in your tax forms to notify the IR that you are leaving the country so you can claim back taxes paid and have a basis for obtaining future non- resident status.

Hi. Providing all information for your visa and work permit doesn't mean a thing here. Make sure that you come to Thailand with a Non_B Multiple Entry one year visa, which is easy to get in your country. Your visa will always run together with your work permit. You have to apply for your work permit as well. Hope you'll get all in order. Chock Dee. P.S. If you're not familiar with Thailand, never forget to be polite and respect others.......

Working permit will be applied by the company in T not by the employee. So a 3 month Non Immigrant B Visa would be fine as well.

Yeah i'd like to know more about that too :D

Thanks for all the information given, i'm a very friendly guy and love the country and people, so there's no problems with my personality/atitude so i'll gel well with them.

I will be moving into live with my girlfriend and her parents for several months until i am grounded and have found some where semi-decent to buy.

Other than the tapping up the UK tax office, is there any thing else i need to do before leave?
