King's Cup Football on Phuket

THAILAND'S premier football event, the King's Cup, will be held in Phuket for the first time this month.

Between January 21 and 23, teams from Thailand, Denmark, Lebanon and North Korea will play off at Phuket City's Surakul Stadium.

Deputy Prime Minister Major General Sanan Kajornprasart will open the tournament, with the Phuket Governor, Dr Preecha Ruangjan.

It's the 39th time the King's Cup has been held.

January 21, 4pm: North Korea versus Denmark; 7pm, Thailand versus Lebanon.

January 22: Rest day.

January 23, 4pm: The losers play off for third spot. 7pm: The winners play to decide first and second, with entertainment during the interval.

Tickets are 100 baht and 200 baht, with students who can produce student cards or who are in uniform paying 20 baht.

The ticket sale booth will open at the stadium on the first day at 2pm.

Channel Seven will telecast all three matches live.

The presentation will take place after the game.

Now we have interviews with Worawi Makudi, President of the Football Association of Thailand, and later with Peter Reid, Coach & Manager of the Thailand football team, speaking yesterday about Thailand beating Lebanon 2-1 after several brawls & a walk off by Lebanon, on Wednesday night during the King’s Cup tournament. The Thai referee waited for the Lebanon team to return, then gave only a yellow card to 1 of their players. as the childish and unsportsmanlike behaviour of the Thai national team is already well-known everywhere in the world (it was less than 2 years ago when they walked off the field after they didn't like a referee's decision), it is really not understandable how the Asian football association can allow to let local referee's do the work (and I dont mean THAI referees are bad, actually I have seen many in bangkok's lower leagues and they were surprisingly good).

it should be mandatory to have referees from countries not involved in the game/tournament....
