Karma

Featured Replies

My nephew has a tattoo around his upper arm in Thai script. I asked what it said and he told me that loosely translated it means 'if you do good things, you get good things and if you do bad things, you get bad things.

I can only associate this with Karma or some similar sort of belief system.

He said it is a traditional Thai proverb or saying but that was his interpretation into English.

Does anyone here have any idea on such a proverb or sentence which would fit the above description. If so, Thai lettering along with the best possible interpretation to English would be appreciated

Thanks heaps

Might this be the proverb wrapped around the arm?

______________

กรรมใดใครก่อ กรรมนั้นย่อมสนอง

Transcription: "kam day khray kɔ̀ɔ kam nán yɔ̂ɔm sànɔ̌ɔŋ"

Literal meaning: "Whatever bad deed someone does, such deed will return."

English equivalent phrase: "You reap what you sow."

ทำดีได้ดี ทำชั่วได้ชั่ว is a very commonly heard version of this.

all the best.

Can someone possibly tell me how this would be pronounced in spoken word? The 'dii' has me baffled
