Is President Trump Betraying MAGA By Legalizing Illegals?
Really? When did you stop believing that illegals weren't criminals? So now America is going to reward them by legalizing them? I thought that's what MAGA was all about being against? But now it's OK? And what makes it worse is that President Trump wants the criminals who hire these criminals, to have a say in the process. I'm referring to the farmers who hire them. They should be jailed! -

Non resident of oz but paying taxes here
The tax residency in Australia is a complex topic, but if you don't have any substantial connections to Australia, like family, house, businesses , cars and bank accounts with fair bit of money you should generally be ok. If you are non resident you don't have to submit tax return, there is a checkbox in the return to notify ATO you won't be submitting returns. If you want to be 100% sure you can apply at the ATO for a private ruling. -

Report Philippines Deploys 12,000 Police for Marcos' SONA
Picture courtesy of Manila Bulletin The Philippine National Police (PNP) is mobilising nearly 12,000 officers to safeguard the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on 28 July at the Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City. This significant deployment underscores the importance of maintaining order during the pivotal address. At a command conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on 8 July, PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III led discussions on security measures. The meeting involved the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and district directors from Metro Manila. Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, director of NCRPO, unveiled the comprehensive deployment plan. PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo highlighted the extensive operation: “Around 12,000 personnel will be deployed for the SONA, including those assigned around the House of Representatives.” The initiative includes the "Manila Shield," a strategic reinforcement involving officers from Central and Southern Luzon. As preparations evolve, the PNP is poised to adjust its forces. Fajardo mentioned, “We have a reserve force ready for additional deployment if necessary.” Coordination with the House of Representatives’ Office of the Sergeant at Arms ensures smooth security protocols within the vicinity. General Torre emphasised the critical need for thorough threat assessments within the region. He directed district officers in Metro Manila to reassess security strategies, including potential pro- and anti-administration activities. “Updated threat estimates will guide our deployments,” Fajardo affirmed. The PNP has reached out to rally organisers, ensuring they can conduct peaceful demonstrations. "To prevent confrontations, pro- and anti-government groups will gather separately,” Fajardo explained. Freedom Park at Quezon City Circle is designated for assembly, with further gatherings expected at the University of the Philippines Diliman and the Commission on Audit area before proceedings along Commonwealth Avenue. Attendance near Tandang Sora Avenue will be regulated. An advanced command post will be established at Batasan Police Station 6, supplemented by a multi-agency coordination centre at Camp Karingal, to oversee security operations on the day. This meticulous planning reflects the government’s determination to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during this critical national event, crucial for maintaining public peace and order amidst potential tensions. With an extensive security setup, authorities aim for SONA to proceed without incident, fostering a sense of stability and vigilance. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Manila Bulletin 2025-07-08 -

Health Rabies Deaths Triple in Thailand: Urgent Alerts Issued
Agreed. I concur that older adults, those with comorbidities, and individuals deemed high-risk should follow medical advice and receive COVID vaccines, alongside their seasonal influenza shots. (I’m not looking to reopen the COVID vaccine debate, but it’s worth noting that at the start of the pandemic, when vaccines first became available, there was considerable uncertainty about who exactly was ‘at risk.’ At that time, I was comfortable taking the vaccine as a precaution. However, given my current circumstances, I now feel it unnecessary for myself. Were I over 65 and travelling, though, I would likely choose to receive it.).
