January 6, 200521 yr Hi, My mate and I were in Bangkok and then Phuket in October last year. Loved it !!! We are coming back to Thailand October this year and probably back to Bangkok. Would like to try Pattaya. Where is the best place to stay, looking for nightlife, bar, clubs etc Also hotels at a reasonable price. Nothing more than £50.00 a night (3750 baht a night).
January 6, 200521 yr For that price in October take your pick of the hotels mate!! If you want something a bit more 'earthy' and closer to the action you are unlikely to even dent £15 a night for a nice room with all the trimmings let alone £50 so thats more brass for play already! I'd suggest checking out around Soi Buakhao and Second Road which is within kicking distance of the action without being right on top of it.
January 6, 200521 yr With that figure in mind you deserve and should get good accomadation. Bearing in mind Oct. is out of season i would suggest you look at the Marriot hotel. Slap bang in the action. But the hotel is closetted from the noise etc with its natural garden setting. I'd suggest checking out around Soi Buakhao and Second Road which is within kicking distance of the action without being right on top of it. Soi Buakhao is a place that is taking of regards action. A place here would find you deep in the action.
January 6, 200521 yr Welcome Plaza The guy is talking about spending 3,750 baht a night. While you would get the Welcome Plaza for 650 baht a night, it would be good value for price. However worlds apart from the Marriot.
January 7, 200521 yr Author Cheers for the reply folks. Have a few options now !!! Looking forward to going now.

However worlds apart from the Marriot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Marriot is waste of time- might as well send him to Hard Rock while we are at it. He said he was willing to pay up to 3750- if he doesnt have to why pay some silly amount for a perfectly good room elsewhere? (not as if you are in the room 24/7 - if I were maybe I would pay more) Can get a two room jr suite for less than 1000THB at the Welcome. Edited January 7, 200521 yr by britmaveric
January 7, 200521 yr How far away is the Welcome from the main bar strips in Pattaya? Sorry don't know the area too well. Is it walking distance?
January 7, 200521 yr If you pay that much you may have trouble with visitors in you room. Better to go down market a little, or have cheap drag back for fun and keep the good place for sleeping.
January 7, 200521 yr How far away is the Welcome from the main bar strips in Pattaya? Sorry don't know the area too well. Is it walking distance? Walking distance to everything- right dead in the heart of the nightlife. Few blocks from Walking street, Soi Yamoto and if you are a lazy git hop on the Tuk Tuk and pay your 10THB for a quick ride down to the lower Soi(s).
January 7, 200521 yr He said he was willing to pay up to 3750- if he doesnt have to why pay some silly amount for a perfectly good room elsewhere? But maybe HE WANTS TO pay that much for a good room. Thus my reccommendation to the Marriott. Now if he said he wanted to rough it and only pay 650baht a night. I might have suggested the Welcome Plaza. BTW you would not get into Hard Rock Hotel for 3,750baht.

As for roughing it - 200THB or less is more like it!
January 7, 200521 yr As for roughing it - 200THB or less is more like it! Would that include breakfast?
January 7, 200521 yr The Flipper Lodge is popular with Brits...not far from Soi 8 which has a lot of British custom...
January 7, 200521 yr As for roughing it - 200THB or less is more like it! Would that include breakfast? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can fight with the bug vendors for some tasty treats! (one of the bonuses of roughing it)
January 7, 200521 yr what about the hotel shaped like a giant ship? the newer building looked quite nice-i haven't got a clue about prices though
January 7, 200521 yr That would be the Royal Cruise. Has onother one built next to it. Beginning to look like London docks up that end.
January 7, 200521 yr Rates for the Royal Cruise Hotel: 11 Jan '05 - 08 Feb '05 1,995 Baht 09 Feb '05 - 16 Feb '05 3,005 Baht 17 Feb '05 - 31 Oct '05 1,995 Baht Edited January 7, 200521 yr by britmaveric
January 7, 200521 yr BTW you would not get into Hard Rock Hotel for 3,750baht. Yeah you can http://r24.org/hotels.thaivisa.com/pattaya/hardrock/

Marriott is better but you can get good deals elsewhere for alot less. Edited January 7, 200521 yr by davethailand
January 8, 200521 yr Don't bother with soi 7 or 8, stick to walking st (nightlife that is) So says the owner of a bar just off walking street.....I usually stay in the walking st area myself, Just that he mentioned Pounds and I assumed he was a Brit....Soi 8 is the main Brit area....he can always get a baht bus to walking st to visit the blues factory.....
