February 16, 200917 yr I have been using the AVG free 8.0 for a few months updating every day no problems. Now it won't update, it tells me it has but it lies to me. My definitions are out of date. I tried manually, full shut down, fiddled with the update manager but still no luck. Any other cheap charlies out there having this problem?

What you need to do is Google: del_avg_ctf_vbs You will get a list of sites that can download this little program for you. It's free and fixes the problem.
March 5, 200917 yr I think the bottom line is that you get what you pay for.I guess you don't have AVG and your comment is a bit of line. I had all types of programs such as norton and so on I always picked up a virus but since I installed AVG ( recommended by my computerrepairer in Australia I never ever had a virus yet)
March 10, 200917 yr I had a similar experiance on different computers over the past few weeks - I removed then reinstalled AVG. Worked fine after that. I have found that updates appear to be unavailible during the morning 9-12 (Thai time), this is when I have manually updated to check a particular download etc. HTH
