I have to get a Non-b visa and I was thinking about going back to my hometown in America (which very luckily for me has a Thai consulate located in it) to do it but after reading through many threads I have become quite confused. Here is what I understand and I hope someone can clear it up for me :

If a get a non-b in:

Cambodia or Lao: I can get a 1 year non-b right off the bat

Houston: I get a 90 day non-b and have to convert it into a 1 year non-b by going to cambodia or lao

My eyes are glazed over and my computer has started to mock me. :o

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

You can always apply for either a single non-B or a multiple non-B. A multiple non-B is valid for 1 year and gives you the right to unlimited entries into Thailand during that year, but each entry no longer then 90 days. After 90 days you have to leave the country and come right back again. You can apply for it in Houston. Call them first for the documents they need.

Thanks. I think I may go the 1 year single entry route and get a multi re entry afterwards. Different documents requirements for each consulate?...I guess I will stay in BKK and let the person who is preparing my documents decide which embassy/consulate I go to. Well thanks for the information :o

There is no 1 year single entry non-B. A single nonm-B visa will give you the right to travel to Thailand once and get permission to stay for 90 days.

However, you can extend these 90 days to 1 year if you meet the requirements from immigration in Thailand. That requires the necesarry paperwork.
