Amazing Saving Long-haul Flight To Los

Featured Replies

I am trying to squeeze in a quick return trip from Perth (Australia) to Bangkok in a couple of weeks time. Pre-Easter and pre-Songkhan, so not in holiday season. I used to rely on Flight Centre and now rely on Sky Scanner to get the best prices on a return, economy-class seat.

Today - my best price (including all taxes) for the return PER-BKK-PER fare with Sky Scanner was $AUD710 (flying Air Asia). It was believe it or not!) $AUD983 with Tiger Airways when I put in PER-BKK and return. That seemed exorbitant for a budget carrier - so I went to Tiger Airways' website and took a couple of minutes to do the sector fares - PER-SIN-PER ($AUD314) and SIN-BKK-SIN ($AUD230), a total of $AUD544. Quite a saving!

Just as an aside, Thai Airways wants $AUD967 for the PER-BKK-PER flights. Okay, it's a direct / non-stop service, all meals, luggage included - but a lot pricier, on an old Airbus A330. Thai Airways is going out of Perth nearly full most nights and returning full - so I can't see them dropping their fares - they don't need to.
