Buying Land Need Some Advice

Featured Replies

Hello,

I own a Thai limited partnership and i would like to know if it can own land ?

Some older threads mentioned that it isn't possible anymore and that the Thai government is trying to hunt down the foreigner owning land by this method.

What is the situation?

Thanks for your advice.

Tell us more. Size / location / purpose of the land purchase? You can do long leases, too. and the "quality" of many new homes is such that one might fare well with such a lease as it coincides with the end of the houses useful life :o

Why not rent? Or find some work around without going down this path?

1. You don't "own" a Thai Partnership. You can be only a part of it!

2. No, foreigners can not own land in Thailand, full stop!

3. You could be a part of a company limted at 49%, which is the minority.

This company could buy land but if you open a company only for the purpose of owning land it is

illegal.

Indeed I don't own this ltd. partnership but i'm a part of it, almost forgot it.

So a ltd. company can own land, can a ltd. partnership own land too?

I am active and have a monthly declared income on the name of my company (a ltd. partnership).

I am currently renting but i'd rather buy a piece of land, not more than 1 Rai to build on, or with an existing construction on it.

Can a ltd. partnership own land, while it's active ofcourse.

Thank you for your fast responses and hope to read from you soon,

Tommy

This was a pretty good thread on that and similar subjects:

As far as i know a partnership can not own land because it is not a juristic person like a Ltd. or a PCL.
