Claiming Back Sales Tax

Featured Replies

I know I can claim back sales tax (p.p.10 form) at an airport. Can I do this at a land border crossing? On an obvious visa run? (If I've spent less than 180 days in Thailand in the past year) Can I do this at Mae Sai?

If you can do it, you need to leave it in the other country......If you bring it back you need to pay import tax

So, you're saying they're more likely to check if I do an overland visa run?

But if I fly out. And fly back a few months or weeks later - would they still enforce this "bring it back rule"? Is it only be enforced when you go over the 180 days in a year limit?

By the way, it looks like you can claim back sales tax at a airport, if you've gone over 180/365 days (but the wording of the rules is ambiguous). Is this right?

What kind of money are you going to claim?

As one revered board member said - it's nice if you bought a Rolex watch.

Other than that - too much of a hassle. You have to produce the goods for inspection.

It wasn't a Rolex. It was an Apple MacBook.
