Where To Go Off-roading - I Want To Go Bush!

Featured Replies

OK - we've established that most farrang males reading this site have a 4WD pickup or similar. Now I've bounced about the bush in Oz and slithered around the sludge in UK but I don't know where to go in Thailand and further a field…

So two questions then;

1. Where can I go for a bit of a w/e in the jungle with my pick up and

2. Who wants to join a convoy to Siam Reap?

Recently some Thai friends of mine went on a round trip from Thailand through Lao to Vietnam in a convoy of about 20 vehicles, so it's possible but how???

I’ve always wanted to drive to Siam Reap and got a bit of advice on how to do that. There still seem to be on or two problems not clear as yet, e.g. I’m told the Cambodian customs try to restrict your travel to one province!?!?!

Well, any ideas?

Never done much serious "off roading" apart from on the farm and chasing run away cows across the fields :D .

I've seen in some of the manafactuter's news letters/magazines that they organise rally's to different countries, or mabye look for "car clubs" that do the same sort of thing. I'd love to give it a go but unfortunatly dont have the time :o

Want to go Bush ?????

Directions :

From the Virginia side of the Potomac River, cross the 14th Street Bridge into Wash. DC, go straight until Pennsylvania Ave, the make a right, Go straight ahead to the Big White House at the end...... Ask for George.....

Not sure if all parts are still in working condition, but lots of abuse left.... Suggest riding hard probably got 4 years left..... Hold on tight as pulls strongly to the right. Comes with complete set of mechanics but cannot guarantee if they know what they are doing.......

Wilko, I don't know where you're located but here's a couple of links of some offroad destinations.

This one is in Kanchanburi so maybe ideal for a weekend challenge if you're in BKK.

The site is in Thai but there's plenty of photos to show how arduous it can be.

This second link is handy if located in the north of Thailand or for a long weekend trip from BKK.

Hope these are useful to you. :o

If you do the Cambodia thing DON'T go off road, you might get a nasty surprise, still millions of land mines even around the so-called safe areas.

I have no intention of blundering off road through the mine fields of Cambodia, I just want to drive to Siam Reap. I think it is advantageous to have 4WD for such a trip.

Thanks - just the sot of stuff I'm looking for; a little too gruelling in parts for my humble 4WD but useful info.
