Flying While Pregnant?

Featured Replies

when is it considered dangerous?

Also, what about walking up staircases and general housework?

most airlines allow to fly to the end of 35 week.

walking, working is not a problem, if the pregnant is fit

Most airlines put a limit of 6 months, anything after usually requires a medical & doctors certificate but it depends on the airline. I flew at 3 months & it was uncomfortable so I wouldn't fancy anything after 6 months.

Walking up stairs & working?? As long as the pregnancy is healthy a woman can do pretty much anything right up to the last days but depending on how physical or stressful the job is she may have to take less stressful role & hours should be reduced towards the end due to tiredness. In UK companies are required to provide a place for pregnant & nursing mothers to rest & have a nap during the work day, if she needs it.

Weve just flown from Bkk to London, two weeks ago when my wife was 5 months pregnant and we will be returning in two weeks when my wife is 6 months pregnant. She was fine on the first flight, so fingers crossed she will be fine for the return. I dont believe there are any dangers involved but I think most airlines wont allow a women 7 months or later.

Well, both of our staff managed to fall pregnant this past year, one girl worked up to her 7th month (full time in the kitchen) and the other girl plans on stopping at about 7 1/2 months, same job.

And yes they are both married and yes, I really hope its not something in the water :o

My wife could do just about anything up until the last day.

One day I even had to have a go at her because she was climbing a tree to get to the fruit whilst heavily pregnant, maybe the cravings got the better of her.

Buy a ticket that can be changed. I think pregnancy is considered a pre existing condition for the trip travel cancellation insurance policies so you can't claim on that right?

All I know about pregnancy is that it is uncomfortable when you have to sit for a long time as you get further into the term. You have to pee alot, so a seat on the aisle is the best place to be. Also, the last thing a pregnant gal wants to do is to have to navigate a tight spot if she's at the window seat. Pay attention to the routings as well. You don't want to make someone with swollen ankles and a bad back have to walk a long distance to make the connections.

Is it true that if you deliver your child on a plane registered in the US, the child get US citizenship?

Have you heard this "myth"?

Is it still the rule that a child born in US will get a US passport?

Maybe go for six months holiday to see my friends in Minnesota.

very good friends of mine went to Vegas for a wedding, she was just under 6 months pregnant at the time & had a check up the day before flying, healthy pregnancy so far & felt fine. On arrival at Vegas airport (literally 30 mins off the plane) she went into premature labour & had their son that day. The medical bill exceeded 1 million USD, fortunately they had travel insurance & due to having the check up prior to flying it was airtight although the insurance co still tried to get out of some costs relating to hotels bills.

The baby had to stay in Vegas for 4 in ICU months whilst mum & dad returned to UK after a month ( they had another child already) & baby was flown home first class with his own doctor & 2 nurses for the trip. The boy is 3 now but has some medical problems relating to being born too soon.

So moral of this story, get doctor sign off if flying later than 6 months & make sure your insurance covers any pregnancy problems cause you never know if you might need it. :o

if you are born in ireland or teritorial waters, the kid and mother can have citizenship - one of the reasons it's difficult to get irish visa.

however, you can easily cross from the UK by ferry or from nothern ireland
