March 18, 200917 yr Does anyone know for sure, when a thai national leaves bkk airport let's say going to Singapore, does immigration "stamp" thai passport going out? How about coming back in? Or would there just be an "in" and "out" stamp from Singapore???
March 18, 200917 yr never heard of stampng in and out of Thailand on a Thai passport, but not completely sure. However, a Thai naional would have to fill in a departure card when leaving and when he returns an arrival card.
March 18, 200917 yr yes they do. Thai passport stamps on the way out and in. They are the bane of my travelling existence..filling up my passport quickly, and those annoying staples destroying the passport pages (when a Thai leaves, they fill out the departure card, and the attached arrivals card gets stapled for use when they arrive back)....
March 19, 200917 yr Author Ok, it's a bit more complicated. Wife has/is a US citizen and currently in Thailand on US passport. She wants to depart Thailand on US passport to Singapore (already has departure card from entering on US passport). So, does she have to fill out another departure card for her Thai passport, because that's what she wants to use coming back in to Thailand. Does she show both passport upon departure from bkk? I know coming back in to Thailand, only show Thai passport, but she doesn't show it on departure, there will be no "out" stamp in it. I'm confused...
March 19, 200917 yr Leave on US passport (thus an American passport no longer on the Thai immigration "balance sheet"). No need to present the Thai passport. On return, present Thai passport. They may or may not ask where you're 'appearing out of thin air' from, whereas you simply present your US passport. That's what I did about ten years ago, and have been travelling on my Thai passport out of Thailand since.
March 19, 200917 yr OK then, as others have said, leave Thailand on the US passport and return on the Thai one. as Heng said, they may or may not ask upon return how she appeared out of thin air. My sister arrived from London in December on a 'virgin' thai passport, and no-one asked any questions. If your wife gets any hassel from the immigration officer at the desk, politely ask to refer the matter to a senior official who know the rules. Remember, your wife is a Thai national, she should be allowed to enter the country by right and without restriction. Do not let immigration insist that she be stamped back in to thailand on her Thai passport. Same thing happened to me a dozen years ago as well. Turned up on the border with a new Thai passport, after speaking to the big man, was stamped in. Have been using my Thai passport here ever since.
March 20, 200917 yr Any Thai holding a Thai passport (with or without other nationality) are allowed to enter Thailand. It does not matter if you have an exit stamp before or not. Just fill up the arrival protion of the white card, and present it with the Thai passport. But she must not leave Thailand on a US passport, as she did not arrive on one. Say next time, going to US, she have to depart Thailand on Thai passport, and enter US with an American passport. My boyfriend does this all the time. Edited March 20, 200917 yr by DaleBlue
