This is the fax number on the embassy website .......Fax: +66 (0) 2 255 9278 the 0 in brackets do you leave this out??????????

I think that is the general embassy fax number. I would not use that. The Visa section fax is +662 254 9579.

I booked online from uk with a thai/farang travel agent (www.moxtravel.com). No problems, paid with my cc online, mrs travelled alone from bkk.

The problem usually arises when you book directly with an airline on their website, Air Asia is a surprising exception. I understand it's all to do with who takes the risk if there is an issue with the card, a travel agent will have ensured that the payment has cleared before the ticket has been issued, so I don't why the airlines cannot do this.

I have certainly had a problem with Thai and Virgin with this rule. There was a thread on this recently in the travel section.

well its failing if your trying it today as they seem to turn the thing off at weekends. I had the same trouble as you. Also you can send it outside of their office hours too.

At first I sent lots of faxes from UK meaning it was out of office hours for them, so... I re-sent all of it again to both those fax numbers you have during their office hours, thinking they might have missed it the first time. However they called us up to say" please stop sending the same fax... we have it already ..."

seems they get all the faxes even from the general fax number... and out of office hours( apart from weekends)

my fax was aroud 36 pages, and it meant they got it 4 times ooops ... i then sent a further 30 pages on a sunday, and like you it wouldn't go thru.

Hey all just got a text from a friend of mine who used to work at the embassy visa section and now helps people to get visas as he didnt want to leave Bangkok when his tour was up. He tells me that visit visa's (i assume he means tourist) delivery rates, have sped up considerably and he believes that settlement visa waiting times may come down as a result. I do not want to be the bringer of false jhopes but this guy seems to know his stuff and this weekend I have had the Mrs constantly crying as all in all this process has caused us to be apart for six months which sucks. So lets hope that this is the truth.

P.S. I anyone wishes to help me overthrow the government after we have all got our visas pls let me know.

P.P.S In case you are a government worker reading this, it is a joke now pls go and work on getting us all of our visas rather than wasting our time!!

The vfs website has processing times. I look on it everyday. God there slow updating it. I sent them an email one month to complain that it was nearly two months out of date. I would of thought now applications are done via the internet it would be easier for them to work out how many they are processing. Maybe I'm just being picky.

I guess it gives them time to fiddle the figures accordingly! Sorry for my bitterness , but the figures are published, according to what I have noticed over the previous few months, around the 21st of the following month. When you think that these figures can be calculated by the tea lady with a calculator and a pencil in 5 minutes this is a bad show!! Thanks for the good luck wishes.

Week 15, nothing today, tracking system down aswell, looks like I have wasted 430 pounds on flights, and will be going home alone on Thursday, loseing confidence in getting a result now, my son was 11month old yesterday I will miss his first steps his 1st birthday as I will not be able to return till september after the English school holidays due to work commitments, My wife does not want to travel with the baby and baggage alone she has never been out of Thailand, so if she gets the visa after I have left she will have to wait till I return to travel, The whole process sucks, I hope people waiting have better sucess than myself its a bad feeling when you hit the 12 week mark and every day after it gets worse, at the moment I am absolutley gutted

Thats heart wrenching ! I feel for you my friend! And I think theoldgit is right too, I wish they would read these posts and see what this is doing to peoples lives... First moments with your child can NEVER be replaced, such as the first step, first birthday ... but not just feasantplukka and myself who are missing our lives with our young child, but for the sake of everyone who has been seperated from each other for months and months on end. Lets hope this is a good week ! We cant remember what life was like when we didnt have this whole nightmare on our shoulders...

3 months seems to be the average wait at the moment so be prepared to wait....

My wife is now starting to adjust to life in the UK, many of her friends told her UK very cold, well she is pleasently suprised how warm it is at the moment so it is helping....... Good job she didn't come over at winter time

I booked my Mrs's flight with ticketstoworld.com and paid with MY credit card (Jet Airways = £283.00, one way). Just needed to provide some "third party" ID like a copy of my passport & copy of front + back of my credit card before they emailed her the E-ticket. She had no problems checking-in so it can be done!

Somebody posted that they went to their MP's surgery and was advised that they would make some enquiries, I'm sorry but I cannot remenber who it was and what the outcome was - cannot trawl through 64 pages.

It really is a disgrace though, whatever the reason.

It was Chewy. So far he has still not received the visa but it was discovered that his application was "lost" & that was probably found out as a result of his MP getting involved. So worth a try IMO if you are over the 3 month mark

Chewy went to his MP and there seemed to be a problem 'finding the application, so he was going to check up on what the problem was but I don't know if he's had any feedback yet, as far as I know he hasn't posted any here...........and he's still waiting.

When Sumrit very kindly tried to work out when we might hear about visa on past visa dates and figures etc. he said if they were doing 8 a day we might hear on 13th July...if 6.5 on the 17th July and if Boo was right and if each Eco were given 32 at a time to get through and my sons was 'at the bottom of the pile' maybe around 21st July...so I am hoping something soon

Personally I would wait for at least 3 months before bending the ear of an MP.

they cover there arse's by saying 95% of normal settlement visa's have an answer within 12 weeks(3months). what normal means i do not know. what i do know it is a disgrace it takes that length of time to read and make a decision on people's life's.

listening to other peoples thoughts on here i think it would only wind them up and they would probably put you at the bottom of the pile.

on an other note i think we are very innocent minded if we think the embassy do not read this forum.i read one thread and it seemed to me the person replying was from the embassy or somebody working on there behalf .

Hi Kate, I was only looking at those figures yesterday. Everybody who sent me their numbers has heard by now except Chewy, yourself and one other who applied at the end of April and all heard within three days of the dates I suggested (my wifes was the worst at three days late ) so I've got everything crossed for you that you'll hear either this week or next. It seems to have gone quiet again recently, I just hope we're not in another three week slump like we had in May/June.
