Returning To Thailand With Wife And Kids

Featured Replies

:o I know this has been done to death but some advice please.

I am English 58 years old my wife is Thai we have one daughter and another due soon. We are now in Spain and wish to return to our home in Thailand at the end of the year. I asked the Thai embassy here in Spain what I would need to get a 3 month Non Img multy visa. The thinking is I would then go to immigration in Chiang Mai and get a marrage visa, does that sound about right so far?

There e-mail to me and what they say I need:

Dear sir, (I think a couple should read spouse)

To obtain the multiple Non-Immigrant visa as a couple of Thai citizen, you have to present the following:

-Original passport, with more than one year of validity

-2 photoes -Visa Application Form, correctly filled and signed -Copy of NIE certificate, certified by Public Notary -Copy of Marriage Certificate -Copy of your wife's passport, signed by her -Income and bank certificate -120 euros/multiple entry The consul will decide if he grant you the multiple entry visa or not. If not, he will grant the single entry visa. The visa process takes 2 working days. Best regards,

Now this looks OK but how do you get an income and bank certificate from our Thai bank when we are in Spain or could they mean our Spanish account?

I thought as I was over 50 and married with children I did not need to show money in the bank.

Is the above correct?

The consular section of the Thai embassy in Spain seems to be mightily confused about the requirements for a non-O visa. Please check if there are any honorary consulates in Spain and call one of them. You will find that they are better informed about visa requirements and will give good service.
