Got one estimate from a larger type shop but because we are farong many told us it should be much lower.

Do you know any small shops with a good quality Thai mechanic that is highly recommended as honest and reliable. Would rather support smaller shop and get a better price.

Also need a good engine mechanic to fix a leaking radiator

There's a body shop run by an old Thai guy, south of Chalong circle - on Viset road going to Rawai - about 150 metres from the circle. His place is just after Por minimart and the store that sells cheap booze. I believe he's just past a very small soi - soi Ruam Uthit. He did a perfect job on my pick-up dents (3 times! ). For an engineer, try the "Hok Liam" garage 1 km north of Chalong circle on the by-pass road (Chao Fa West). It's on the right side, just past the 7/11 at the junction of soi Thanuthep. Ask for Lek - 0815377185 (Good English). They charged me 550 baht to change both engine mounts and gearbox mount . (If mods have to delete the number, PM me for it.)

There's also another guy I went to to replace the motor that operates the door lock. He also fixed my leaking windscreen washer bottle for 50 baht. He is on Viset road, east side, about 500m north of soi Sai Yuan junction and about 200m south of the petrol station on the other side (west side) of the road. Delete that one - the old guy's place is now yet another dämn restaurant!

I have used,and been quite happy with, a chinese thai's shop. It is located on a soi which runs east, perpendicular to Wisit Rd. Access to soi is directly across from Wat Sarang Arom. Shop is about 300 metres down soi on right side. Full body and mechanical services on premises.

Can also recommend Khun Lek's place above, but used them to repair a little ding on my car when our carport pillar jumped out in front of it We had the place recommended to us from a friend who's been using them for years with no problems.
