March 22, 200917 yr My old ('82) Mercedes could do with a few bits and pieces - the rear differential is noisy, steering box worn, broken door handles, dated interior. These parts are very hard to get here in good condition, and expensive. Looking on ebay I see parts cars/MOT failures/non runners selling for very low prices in the UK. A complete car can be bought for the equivalent of 10,000 baht. I will be back in the UK soon, and was wondering about buying one of these cars, breaking it up and shipping it here. I would not bring the rolling chassis, and probably not the engine and box (to avoid giving the impression I was sneaking a whole car in CKD), but all body panels/suspension parts and the complete interior. I'm wondering is this a potential nightmare in the making, or an intelligent solution ? Would I need a permit to import the stuff, and would I be hit for a big bill for duty ? Also the approximate costs of shipping LCL........Any thoughts on all of this ? Cheers Edited March 22, 200917 yr by INTJ
