indothai
More accurately: The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) "IIHS debuts new roof strength crash test,..." Autoblog Link: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/24/iihs-de...vs-rated-first/ IIHS Press Release with further documents and videos: http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr032409.html The Honda CRV and Ford Escape earned the MARGINAL rating, not minimal. Because minimal would be POOR. Skimming thru documents may not be good. Real life account of a roll over accident. I'm happy to read that all occupants survived. http://hondasuv.com/members/showthread.php...hlight=accident Side note: CRV's sold in Thailand do not have side curtain airbags. This is very important. MeetJohnDoe
The Honda CRV and Ford Escape earned the MARGINAL rating, not minimal. Because minimal would be POOR. Thank you for the correction in terminology...I was writing the post from memory. However, I believe my recollection is correct in that the rating received by the CRV and the Escape was the lowest possible on the scale being used, therefore, whether it's called "marginal" or "minimal" it still means the worst of the group of SUVs being tested. The tests were on the most recent models of each vehicle. Edited March 26, 2009 by MeetJohnDoe
Plus
Simple ! Just don't drive them like a high performance car and they wont roll over! I believe most rollover incidents are not result of driving like high performance cars but drivers reacting to dangerous conditions, actions like swerving to avoid hitting a child. Anyway, rollovers and crashes DO happen, it's unavoidable, it's car makers responsibility to ensure safety for the passengers in case it happens.
