However well Jakaprob appears on tv (the ace propagandist after Thaksin), never forget that he's proven numerous times through what could have been a great and honest career, that he is nothing but a treasonous scummy snake like the rest of Thaksin's crime syndicate and cult following.

Well he got the next part of the job done as well. But, I seriously doubt this is over. The PM will be on the carpet next week.

They have had their credit rating lowered already. This was one expensive weekend for Thailand, in many many ways.

Will they be back, they said they would?

I don't know.

Yes, and the man behind the Red shirt movement didn't give himself up like the others did. He is still on the run and is promising to foment much more violence in Thailand. Now, it is not only going to be where is Thaksin, but also where is Jakropob?

Read this and get an idea of how dangerous Jakropob has become:

What a gullible fellow you are when you find a source that feeds your prejudices.I would suggest you read Crispin's piece again and perhaps find on further thought that on the author's own admission it is mostly conjecture.Interesting thoughts and worth monitoring I agree but not yet even close to being plausible.

What's happened to you over the last few days by the way? You used to be someone, while respecting your basic views, I looked to for balance.

No PAD is charged and in jail so far. Let me guess reds will be charged real quick.

And you ask the reds to stay quiet so country will be peaceful.

PAD reported on 30 March to the police station.

Now there case is at the courts

The yellows never tried to burn Bangkok down.....

Nor indeed did they threaten to blow it up, using gas-tankers. Now if only Thaksin had arrived, to join the party as he had promised his supporters, he might have brought the matches with him. !

Koo, any comment on Thaksin's failure to lead his supporters, on the streets in the insurrection he had incited, do any of the Red-Shirts feel betrayed now ? How about his asking you to bring your children along, while he got his own family out of the country to safety, by contrast ?

Glad you're OK yourself, and thanks for the photos during the riots, by the way. :o

They only tried to close down 2 airports in Bangkok :o for 8 days.

They reported to police but no leader is held by police so far. The yellows and Abhisit are trying to buy time. Police asked them to report early March but they said they were not free and would see police on 30th March :D

Now the red leaders are held by army.

How can they ask the reds to be quiet?

Ricardo,

I have posted a few times that if Khun Thaksin told the reds to stop, they would not stop. I posted at least twice that we should not stick to politicians as they may change. We should stick to our aim. I can see it when a few politicians started to come to the red stage in later days and not from the beginning.

I posted also that if Khun Thaksin acts like Abhisit, the reds won't support him.

The reds are fighting for their rights to keep the party / Prime Minister they vote for and to have justice. They don't fight for Khun Thaksin only.

yes and what is the difference: closing the airport for 8 days=major inconvenice

and killing hundreds of people with liquidgas???

I prefer to wait a week at the airport and not get burned to ash

I am so convinced by your statements. Reds, hanging portraits of Thaksin over their necks, queuing up to get their Bt500 from Thaksin, parking LPG tanker in a residential area, using force to take over a market and gunned down a few of its occupants, burnt down shops and homes of a muslim community,. All these action was a fight for rights and justice? Who was your foe in the fight? Who was the leader of your battle? The one in the portrait over your neck?

Though the Reds never actually voted for Samak,

they knew he would be PM, because Thaksin essentially directed it.

They voted for individual PPP MP's.

Samak was removed due to his own arrogance and ignorance.

The Reds never actually voted for Somechai,

but he was installed because Thaksin directed it.

He was removed by the global PPP's ignorance and greed.

They broke the same laws, the same way TRT did, DUH!

Not learning from their mentor's mistakes, STUPID.

Or too arrogant to think it applies to them. Hubris.

Newin saw the writing on the wall and took his faction.

Reds voted for Newin's faction,

Newin's faction made a better DEAL for his voters.

He's a power broker, he he went were the prospects were best.

The dems were installed.

In truth, the Reds voted for people who are now running the country,

because their elected representative made a better deal for them, in a constitutional manner.

This deal specifically cut out Thaksin's core players, and totally on purpose.

There's the rub.

Why you Reds don't screen bloody murder at Newin and instead focus on Abhisit is

a symptom of the lack of understanding involved on the Red side.

Your own people made a better deal to save the power of their voting block,

when it was obvious months ago Thaksin was NOT going to politically survive this.

Newin met with him in Hong Kong around the time of the divorce.

Read him as a person, and politician and found him wanting in a major way.

Like him or not, Newin clearly is good judge of men, and found Thaksin wanting.

He made a better deal for his voters.

The Reds have the rights they voted for,

their elected representatives read the shifting sands of Thai politics and made a change, for the better.

But Thaksin can't let his street base understand the real TRUTH TODAY;

He lost much of his coalition, because THEY didn't trust him anymore.

He must lie to the street people,

because if he doesn't make it SEEM a class war with him as leader ready to free them,

then ALL his leverage would be gone, and he is reduced to being a powerless pathetic man,

alone in a hotel room mourning his days in power. And it's eating him up inside like a cancer.

You make a very good point and one I have been thinking about as well.

many people like to say that Abhisit is a "puppet" of the PAD, which I doon't think is the case at all. While it's true to say he could not be prime minister without their backing, it is also true to say he could not be prime minister without the backing of Newin's faction.

In truth, almost all laws enacted and proposals made since Abhisit came to power have been for the benefit of the poor and have not gone down particularly well with the "elite". He has implemented the 15 year free education program, which no government of either stripe had done. He has proposed new taxes on property and inheritance to fund programs that would create a more egalitarian society. No wonder Thaksin had to make a move. Abhisit was cutting him off at the knees with REAL policies that could affect REAL change.

Doesn't look like it's over yet:

Movement will regroup and hit back stronger, Pheu Thai MP vows Ads by Google

The red shirts were likely to regroup after the government lifts the state of emergency, sources from security forces said yesterday.

Although life in Bangkok appears to have returned to normal, intelligence officials have had tips that supporters of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra plan more rallies as soon as the state of emergency is discarded.

Red-shirt leaders such as Jatuporn Promphan, Jakrapob Penkair had earlier announced they were ready to stage an underground movement.

Informants claim the new round of rallies were intended to be more dramatic than those that took place in recent days.

The government has been warned to check D-Station carefully and take legal action against taxi drivers' local radio stations as they were a media allegedly instigating an uprising and anarchy.

Pheu Thai Party Udon Thani MP Lt Col Surathin Pimanmekin said the red shirt movement would continue although they had been told by the leaders to suspend the protest. "People who are treated unfairly still want to demonstrate their protest in their own way. They do not need leaders. Having leaders does not necessarily ensure victory."

He said provincial people would come to Bangkok to issue demands to the government.

Democrat Party adviser Banyat Bantadtan believed the red shirt movement would revive after regrouping to try gather more strength.

However, he said the longer the rallies went on, the more public opposition the red shirts would face before finally dying down.

"Thaksin fears that it would reach that point and that's why he has been calling for a mediator to bring reconciliation,'' he said.

Banyat, formerly a Democrat Party leader, gave three reasons that would drive Thaksin to compromise: first he doesn't want to go to jail. The Supreme Court's Political Division for Political Office Holders had sentenced him to two years in prison over a land deal by his ex-wife.

Secondly, he did not want to lose his assets (courts are due to rule on $2 billion of family money that has been frozen in Thai banks). And third, he wanted to return to power.

Banyat said it would be hard to find people who would act as a mediator for Thaksin, as the former PM wanted the government to throw 13 graft cases, worth Bt200 billion in damages, out of the court.

"Thai society has developed to the point that people will not allow a few people to settle this problem because it goes against moral and legal grounds,'' he said.

Meanwhile, a former Roi Et MP for the pro-Thaksin People Power Party, Nisit Sinthuprai, claimed the riots this week were the work of a third party and not the red shirts.

He also claimed the military crackdown on the protesters on Monday led to deaths and that he would find evidence and relatives of people supposedly killed to present to the press.

He said the red shirts had not lost the war; they were just taking a recess. "We will actually steal a small victory by breeding red-shirt seeds in the heart of people. Once we blow the whistle, a bigger number of red shirts will turn up."

He said he would be a second-generation leader for the red shirts and would lead a rally to call for the resignation of three privy councillors and the PM."

There is, among a number of divides in the country, a geographical divide. The PAD are largely Bangkok-based people and thus unlikely to harm 'their' city. The Red Shirts are by and large, rural and have a lot less respect for the city and it's property. Many feel the Bangkokians use them and take advantage of them. This is a lot of the reasn for the damage (not all, by any stretch).

For some of them, they could just as well have been invading Burma or Cambodia.

The reds voted for Peua Thai. Who ever from PT can be their PM. They support Khun Samak and Khun Somchai because these 2 are from PT.

They did not vote for Democrat so they do not accept Abhisit. Reason: Democrat doesn't see the need to bring good things to people in general. They only see the benefits of people of their sides, mainly people with famous family names. The highlight of this party is they talk very nicely but they don't do like what they talk.

If Thailand can be divided, I'll be with the reds. See how fast we can develop with Khun Thaksin to be PM.

The remaining part will have mainly hi so thinking they are better than many. I just wonder if they can be rich without the labors, workers they are using.

Many hi so are with the reds though.

They voted for PPP, it no longer exists, but it's MP's still do.

The Reds also voted for Friend's of Newin Faction of PPP

It still exists, but told the Red shirts and Thaksin to go get stuffed.

The moral to you dear Koo,

be careful who you vote for you might get them.

In this case you did, and we all are paying the price....

Koo, Im just glad you didn't join your friends in torching 20 buses, parking LPG gas trucks next to apartment buildings, and assaulting people at the market, etc... It seems you had enough sense to say "This is too crazy for me". Its nice to know that even passionate people can recognize extremism. Try using that common sense to recognize that Thaksin WANTED the red shits to use violence, to kill a few people, and cause lots of destruction. He was hoping your friends would do that, because he thought that more would join, and he could return to "lead the revolution". Thank God that most Thai's, if not highly educated, have a good amount of common sense, and could recognize his actions for what they were.

Thaksin has been doomed by history, and by his own greed. Its sad, but I hope that there are enough good people in public service (I think our PM and Finance Minister are good examples) can help Thailand move back to the right track.

Thailand has sunk so low, that its time to stop the call for "Fresh elections", charge the PAD, rise up Reds!, etc. How about PM who cares about the country, and wants to see it get better. How about a few years without riots, deaths, etc. How about some peace, so that Thai's can get back to being Thais (Sanook, mai pen rai, same same).

I love Thailand, and everyone of my Thai friends and collegues feels the same as I do. Lets let the past be the past, and start here, now, trying to pick up the pieces, and move forward.

Koo, my comment was posted in another forum thread already but I trust it also should be here.

To call on new elections during the current global economic crisis would be the wrong solution! We see then a caretaker Government which can not handle but only sit unable to make decisions or install laws. In the best case scenario a fully function Government, election included will take at least 4-5 month to have it running. This can't be allowed. Solve the crisis first. Thailand needs a leader now and the current PM can do that - Yes, he can!!!

Do the Thai people want Chalerm to lead this country? Live with the fact that your hero turned into a zero... and will never return. You know, he is clever...

Peopeleof Bangkok, good point. This is what I don't understand here in Issan a lot of the money coming in here comes from relatives working Bangkok. For some at least they have a direct interest in what happens there beyond politics.

Udon also has a very strong yellow shirt group as well. If someone doesn't pause and think I see very bad results right around the corner. They haev already said hey haev o borrow more oney again now. If his doesn't stop the credit rating will go even lower then it already did. There most be a point of deminishing returns.

Rigth now every Thai is losing and there is no winner.

So elections are a bad thing... hmm Caretaker Governemt cannot handle situations. hmm Can''t be allowed. Thats more like the spirit.

Thailand does indeed need a leader more than at any time. what it has is a twitching, stammering shipwreck of a boy with the army dictating through his ear piece constantly.

Anyway, nice to see a few new members of the PAD tag team acting in unison. Great blogging lads and you have changed my opinion of your Master Sondhi and thats for sure.

Please, it is getting tiring hearing comments like the "Democrats don't see the need to bring good things to people in general." Be specific. What about the Democrats policies for the people do you find fault with? Remember, the Democrats policies not only mirror what the PT has been offering, but their platform for the Dec. 2007 national election mirrored what the PPP was offering. Since the policies parallel each other, what is it about the PT and PPP's policies that you don't like?

Grandpops, you seem to imply above that there is some sort of co-ordinated effort, to distort the content on TV ? Do you have any actual evidence for this, or your claim that Sondhi is their Master ?

I personally would condemn any attempt by paid posters, to disrupt our forum, in this way.

It certainly was interesting, to see the views of new members who started posting over the past week, unfortunately some of the more rabid ones got themselves banned, just when they were getting going. The lesson as always is, feel free to post, but don't flame or abuse others.

Thank you so much, I do feel free to post as I see fit. Koo was insulted and demeaned on here tonight by the PAD supporters if you are keen to stamp out flaming?

I watched this country nose dive in the 90's and finally pick it self up this century and start behaving like a country going forward.

We had major construction, and the beginnings of a health service, both of which The democrats tried to block.

IMHO which I am entitled to, Thaksin shook this country to its roots and people started believing that if could achieve greater things. Which ever side you may take now, there is no hope at all of this country achieving anything whatsoever in the next decade.

The Genie is out of the bottle and with the information highway, the poorer people of this country can read about how wealthy people are in Bangkok. They can also see on television every night the difference in the standard of living and housing in Bangkok over where they live. Impossible that this can be stamped out or glossed over.

You are either a democracy or miilitary state and I know where the worlds press are placing thailand these days.

Completely agree Gramps. When we use reason and logic, as well as our own observations over a long period of time, we make for a more compelling point of view. I just want to read more of this, and less sniping and jabbing, from everyone, myself included!

I don't think it's the right time to call for an election since the world and Thailand economics are bad, this will make the situation even more sluggish. I believe in Abhisit & Korn Chatikavanij.

What will we do if Chalerm Yoobamrung wins an election, huh? Nominee again?
