Is There A Schedule For Road Closures In The Phrom Phong Sukhumwit Area

Featured Replies

I live around Thong Lo, and quite often, the roads will be closed for 15-30 minutes when members of the Royal Family or government (not sure) must use these roads. I am just wondering if there is anyway to know in advance when this will be the case? Thanks.

Did you happen to see the closure and police escort for the prosche 911 the other night???

The sure sign is when you see police at every corner moving traffic along very quickly

No, I did not. But the road seems to get closed several times a week.

Not certain if there would be a published schedule for public viewing but I'm watching this topic in case there is. Last friday it took 2 hours to get from Asoke/Petchaburi to Central World in Sukhumvit - according to the radio it was a "special mission" road closure. :o

Tony, look at it this way, for obvious security reasons not many heads of state / vips etc publish their exact routes in advance and even if they did what good would it do anyway with the constant last minute changes to schedules.

Maybe (just), a Thai radio station like Jor Sor 100 would provide up to the minute updates of pending road closures. But quite honestly, when the VIP caravan, whips down Sukhumvit, the traffic is rarely stopped for more than 5-10 mins from what I have seen.

I guess this is the price you have to pay mate for saying you live in Tonglor. :o
