I'm studying in US now and I'm going back to Thailand.I want to buy a bb storm and I want to know how to unlock it and use it in Thailand. Today I went and ask for some information from Verizon, they said that if I want to unlock the cell phone I need to pay 200 for the phone 175 to unlock and 250 to keep the phone.

So, if I want to buy just the phone and get the unlock code is that gonna work out? and not paying $425 more. Or it's gonna be better for the T-mobile service? It's ok for me to pay 200 and pay the unlock code. And is it going to work in Thai sim card ?

Please tell me if anyone know about this stuff cause I really want the bb storm. :o

Get it unlocked at MBK in Bangkok. I just did this with my Blackberry Bold for 1000 Baht. The Thia sim works fine in the Phone.

Hi :o

I had a locked BlackBerry 7130g. NOBODY in MBK could unlock the stupid thing! Several said "yes sure we can", left it there and hours later was told "sorry our software not compatible" or some such excuse.

Tried with two different "Turbo SIM" cards - no luck, wouldn't take any SIM other than the one it had in it originally (Orange UK).

Sold that piece of junk on E-Bay :D

Best regards.....

Your options are sign up with a contract and cancel, or buy it outright. Should be about the same either way because they will charge a big fee to cancel the contract.

But, the Storm may not fully work in Thailand. Unlike other phones, the service books have to be sent by the cell service provider. They don't just work out of the box 100%. If AIS has the same model, then it will work fine. But they don't have the Storm. The phone and sms will work just fine. Some of the other things like the browser may not.

There are ways to get the service books on there, but they're not always easy and may not work.

Search here: www.blackberryforums.com

The Storm is CDMA and GSM so it will work on the network if unlocked, but only the phone and sms will definitely work. The other services may not. I have used my unlocked 8320 Curve just fine on AIS, but AIS offers that model so it should work.
