Hey guys, does port 25 have to be open and forwarded on my router?

If it is open would my emails upload faster (attatchments)?

Normally Port 25 is open by default for outbound connection. But if you had limited outbound connection as well, than you need to open Port 25!

Cheers.

IMHO if your ISP limits outbound traffic on port 25 it has something to do to with limit spamming

Try SMTP via port 576 (i.e. Google, AOL)

Excuse me but the question of the OP was:

Hey guys, does port 25 have to be open and forwarded on my router?

and not that the ISP is limiting outbound traffic!

In case you use the mail service NOT with an mail server, the ISP isn't limiting outbound traffic, as long as not used for to send for to send Bulk-Mail or even Spam-Mail!

And the OP is asking for the port settings in his Router/Modem!

So the simple answer to the simple question of the OP is:

Normally Port 25 is open by default for outbound connection. But if you had limited outbound connection as well, than you need to open Port 25!

Cheers.

So routers open port 25 automatically for outgoing? Then I don't have to set the router manually?

No, all outbound port's are open by default, only if you had limited the outbound traffic you'll need to open the required port's!

Cheers.
