I just came across this notice which has recently been posted on the Australian Embassy (Thailand) website.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Australian Embassy Bangkok and the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) have become aware that there are immigration and visa websites which claim, or imply, that they are affiliated with the Australian Government, or that they are officially endorsed by the Australian Government. These websites may imply that they can guarantee that interested people will be granted a visa to Australia, or will be granted Australian citizenship.

These websites may often require interested people to 'register', to provide personal details, or to pay a fee to them.

Please be aware that the Australian Government and the Australian Embassy Bangkok do not endorse any such websites.

For official information on Australia's immigration programmes or on Australian visa requirements, or Australian citizenship, please visit the official website of the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) at http://www.immi.gov.au/.

my fiancee and I have known each other for 17 months - she had to get divorced - we gathered pictures, phone records, bank records, she passed her physical and police checks, i got our notice of intention to marry, all papers lodged 25 february, interview 13 march, faxed some additional docs 18 march, visa granted 25 march, passport stamped yesterday 1 april

my advice - download the booklets from the immigration website, read and follow the guidelines, talk to others who have done it , tell the truth, get the evidence and make sure it is a genuine application - immigration agents , (shrugs shoulders) i am not sure of their worth.

ps i am no spring chicken and nor is my fiancee - but we do love each other

i have stayed with her family for a few weeks (loved village life!)

Australian Immigration rules are not harsh, just careful

Here we going again. Can we try and differentiate between qualified, registered migration agents, and the unscrupulous rogues to which the Embassy is warning of.

With over 150 different Australian visa sub-classes, some are relatively straight forward, whereas some are quite complex. Although I am a sponsor of this forum, I still give freely of my time and try and answer most, if not all, inquiries that come my way, and I do get many. Occasionally I do get a client that is just totally overwhelmed with the visa process and retains my services. At least however, I am qualified, registered and can be held accountable for the advice that I give.

Regards

have to agree here. there is a place for migration agents. it is not always a straight forward thing to do and to get it right. and then some people dont have the time to do it themselves.

and then are those that it is just too much to handle.

so dont forget its the crooked ones that are the problem not the honest ones.
