Just landed to Swampy. Could smell smoke already couple of minutes before landing and after landing saw clearly visible flames between the two runways. Captain also annouced that there is big fire between the runways, smoke is disturbing air traffic and one of the two runways has been closed due to the fire. When driving out from the airport i could also see huge cloud of smoke rising from the airport.

Nothing on tv channels so far. Wondering what is burning. Anyone seen any reports in local media ?

Maybe someone with a box of matches thought it would be a good idea to burn off the excess grass.

It looked much more than just burning grass to me. Then again there is nothing much between the runways, mainly grass... ?

My plane landed just before 8pm.

BBC have reported that the PM has said its all under control...........

Long time reader and seldom poster here. I just landed a few minutes before midnight and saw no fire or smoke. Things were very quiet at Swampy. I came in at E9 and there wasn't 20 people in that long corridor to the "T" where your turn to make your way to immigration. 3 people in front of me at the immigration queue. Nearly no traffic to Sukhumvit nor on Sukhumvit.
