Bangkok Airways list a flight for this route as a direct one.

Thanks heaps. The flight looks pretty costly and out of sinc with other domestic routes. Ill give it a miss

The price is mad. About 12,000 return. Also although there is a direct flight from Chiang Mai to Samui, there isn't a direct flight back. Just like Thai Airways CNX to Phuket... you have to go through Bangkok on the way back. Fine for wealthy tourists who want to go the "anti clockwise thai circuit".... but not the other way round.

When you think about it, that means no direct flights from any beach resort in Thailand direct to Chiang Mai....strange.

Just checked bangkok air website, 6,500 one way from chiang Mai to Samui.

I didn;t know this route even existed. Expensive, but then it's about 5,000 from Samui to Bangkok alone!
