I have a main computer connected with cable to a ADSL router, all working fine. I now want to connect a second computer to this router, it has 4 ports.

this requires a LAN cable of about 30 Meter length.

has anyone advice whether this is possible and whether with this 30 meter cable a proper internet connection is still possible?

gratefull any advice ard

No problems at all. Even if you use CAT5 instead of CAT5e Cable, there will not be any problem. The only things is that you use an EIA/TIA 568A or 568B cable connection.

Just go to the following website to see how the cable should be: http://www.utm.edu/staff/leeb/568/568.htm

Cheers.
