Just been told that the BTS and Roads around victory monument are being shut down now because of the protestors are moving that way?

anyone got any more news? ....

:o

Just read on-line from the Bangkok Post that a group of taxi drivers and Red Shirts are planning to block roads around the Victory monument.

According to the article police are attempting to negotiate with the group to get them to remove their vehicles.

If they can not negotiate an agreemrnt according to Bangkok Post article, the poice intend to remove the vehicles blocking the roads.

At present time....it is highly reccomended that you avoid the area around the Victry Monument as at best the taffic will be jammed.

Could be problems if there is police/protester confrontation.

Theres a BTS train just gone into Siam - so i think this rumor is false

As at 17:45 hrs;

Apparently, according to Thai TV news channels, Red Shirts are calling for the PM & the 3 previous Thaksin ministers to resign (or answer them) or they (the Red Shirts supported by the taxi drivers) will close the MRT and then the BTS will be closed down - police are trying ongoing talks to at least allow emergency traffic (ambulances reported stuck).

The UDD leaders said about 20,000 taxis would block roads around Bangkok for another three days if the government does not meet their demands for a general election and the resignation of the foreign minister and three privy councillors.

they better bloody not ! ...........

why dont they just revoke the taxi licence of the offending drivers??? ........

but they are getting the yellow shirts where it hurts as most will want to travel over songkran !

As of 18.30: There's definitely major problems somewhere: boats, piers, BTS around Sathorn/Saphan Thaksin, all mobbed to the point of insanity right now. BTS is apparently running as normal at the moment (assuming you can get on it).
