Thailand Tourism Hurting Badly

Featured Replies

An interesting article from the bangkok post today on tourism and future business investments. You have to ask if the protesters ever consider the consequences of their actions, somehow I doubt this very much. There is one thing for sure that they will be complaining badly when they lose jobs, income form tourism etc. Som nam na!

Well given the Authority's past record in maintaining law and order and open transport routes during times of strife many people will be seriusly considering altering their plans. The only saving grace is that it is most likely too late for most of them, they are either committed or already in country. But both sets of protestors are not from the industry most likely to be affected by their actions so they really couldn't give a flying duck.

What it needs is a massive demonstration by BOGOFF (Bar Or Gogo Operatives Freedom Federation) telling all these political thugs to take their grievances someplace else, like Tierra Del Fuego, and sort themselves out there. Because, quite frankly, Thailand doesn't needs these kinds of political hotheads like a powderkeg needs a spark.

All things considered (world wide recession, airport closure, strong baht, ongoing civil unrest) there are still a lot of tourists in Thailand. Thailand is like a name brand and I think in the short term nothing will really stop tourists from visiting. Longer term, yes, people will go elsewhere for their vacations.

ofcorse they have no idea what harm they are doing to their own country, and if they lose their job or somthing bad happens they will blame farangs,

This situation is what the expression shooting yourself in the foot was made for.Someone needs to stick a fork in this country.

If this situation carries on much longer they will possibly start shooting each other and probably not in the foot. You would think that they would have learned something from the previous yellow shirt debacle. They have now lost face again by postponing the Asean summit meeting. I can guess what the Chinese leader's thought s are on this. Maybe he should be put in charge of riot control and show the Thais how it's done?

In other words, exactly what they do in the west as well.

In difficult times, blame the foreigners/immigrants.

:o

Som Nom Na :o if only it hurt the people that created this mess the most!

Sadly I doubt it will.
