some e-mail threads can become quite long - 20 pages or more with countless replies and forwards.

Each time I reply, another e-mail is added to my outbox and even though I delete the mail I replied to, there are plenty of mails with redundant information clogging up my sent mail box. This becomes quite annoying when searching for a mail I sent to Joe Doe 4 weeks ago and many other mails with similar subject lines pop up as a search result so that it takes a while to find the mail I was looking for.

What I was wondering is...is there any tool out there that would automatically delete any predecessors of the mail I just sent out, thus eliminating redundant mails that I don't have to keep.

Over to the geeks!

A simple answer is do not just hit the reply button every time. send them a new email with a different title subject and then searching for one is easier and you are not getting large files downloaded each time :o
