Its called Nyo tai mori 女体盛り (woman body heaping), or Nan tai mori (Male Body Heaping) its nothing new and has been around before any of us were born. Japanese didnt invent it, just adapted it to sushi. Traditionaly fruit etc. was used by other countries. The sushi idea was to bring the fish to body temperature to make it more paletable, yeah right... just horny Japanese execs with more money than sense, but hey why not.
