Cdma Usb Modem Huge Lag

After 4 days of trying to make the MC727 modem work, well what a disapointment.

Because of the usb port, it takes from 60% to 99% of my CPU power to run it. i cant run it without their mobilink program, when id o i get no signal. The mobilink program takes no CPU % though. but anyways. Anyone has fixed this? i am on vista with a fairly new laptop.

Also because of this huge lag (computer running @ 62% non stop) the connection keeps timing out after about 15secs of being connected. Everything makes the computer freeze for over 1 min when i open any program (even windows task manager)

Tried everything, running as admin, tried to run it as XP, tried to connect only using windows dialup connection, but you really need to mobilink program(or if i unstall it will it work?)

I am using a CAT supplied MC727 USB Modem on an Apple iMac , ASUS N10J Netbook ,( Running Windows XP SP3 ) and Acer E500 Desk Top PC , ( Running Windows Media Center ) . With the Windows machines all I did was install the MobiLink software from the CD supplied with the MC727 , the only initial problem I had was with the iMac , but found by using a

powered USB hub , and plugging the MC727 into the powered hub, every thing works , ok every time.

may be post a question about your problem here ..

Sorry I can't be more helpful but for me the MC727 runs very well on my 3 computers and has been far from a disappointment. :o

You might want to read through the below linked thread because it involved the MC727 modem also. You might be facing an issue of your motherboard not providing enough power for modem. With modem in transmit mode it draws the max power USB 2.0 is spec'd to provide. Read the thread and get a bit more info.
