Hello Guys And Girls

Featured Replies

Long time lurker, but decided to sign up now to properly say hello :o

I've been coming to Thailand on average once every two months (for 2-3 weeks a shot) for the last year and a bit (visa runs from Taiwan) and must say I really have fallen in love with the place, so much so that I've decided to knock Taiwan on the head and give LOS a chance :D

My original plan had been to go to Bangkok as they have some good Japanese language schools there (my hobby), however after this months FMP and trip to Samui I'm wondering if I might prefer to sit on a beach all day instead .... haha.

I've got a while to think about it all as I won't be moving until July at the earliest, so I'll save most of my questions for seperate threads - however the jist being that as my job is online and fully automated I don't have to worry about money, so can try whatever.

I actually have a friend out in Phuket who runs a bar and wants me to take it over - so that's a possibility too - I know, I know - never run a bar in Thailand unless you want to lose money, but to be honest, I'm happy to lose money in the name of fun - so hey ... what the hel_l :D

Oh - and to make my intro complete - my name is Ben and I'm 28 :D

I envy you for having a job that allows you to be anywhere with an internet connection. What do you do?

Welcome Ben.I've not been on here so long myself. There has been some good help on here. Some laughs too(getting beat up by ladyboys with umbrellas).

Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to tv - enjoy yourself!

welcome to thaivisa and to thailand Ben

hope you enjoy, and experience the good side. and if you do see the bad side, please try to remember that it is just but one facet of Thailand :o

cheers

a warm welcome Ben and hope to have many chats with you.

Sounds good, own Internet business and chance to run a bar.

Question is: is it legal?

You won't lose money if you're taking over from him running it, you should be on wages surely ??

Thanks for the welcome guys :o

In regards to my job - I work with online marketing, selling advertising space on sites, pushing affiliate traffic etc - basically someone would come to me and say "I have X site, I would like to make money from it, what can I do?" - I then setup the necessary and take a cut from the income, so yes, totally legal :D

I've been travelling around Asia now for almost 4 years, so am used to the various good and bad bits a country has. To be honest, I think most of the complaints come from people who are too used to their hometown and how they perceive things "should" be done. If you think like that, then of course you will complain a lot. You think that Farang get it bad in Thailand, you should go to India - we kept getting pulled over by the police (and fined) for me even being in a car with other Indians!!!

Then go to the Taj Mahal, its 20 times more expensive for a westerner to get in rather than a local ....

Lol - anyway - in regards to the bar - I don't have too much information yet, but I know my friend (or I should say aquantance - how do you even spell that?!? - he is my friend's friend really) is desperate to get out - he just wants to get back to the UK, this could be a terrible sign of course - I'll find out soon enough ...

Now just tell us where you bar is (Soi Bangla?) and I will come and join you for a drink, OK?

I will tell you about my experience with a bar in Phuket, hilarious. :o

Cheers

Welcome!

travel around a bit, there are other hidden gems, I love Ranong (that close to Myanmar) someone else love Trang.....

So maybe it is not one of the famous spots.

The bar is in Kata, which is cool as I really like Kata beach.

I'm still more swaying towards Samui though - I like the idea of being on a little island :o

Hello and best of luck Monokuro!

Wish you success.

Have a fun time, or go insane :D

Might be worth checking with the visa specialists whether you need a work permit to do this in LOS - officially :D
