What kind of connections can you get in thailand? What is the price, what is the speed, what are the bandwidth limits? Is it any good? Or is it slow & unreliable? Also how expensive is water & electricity in thailand?

Are you already located in Thailand? Than please state your location or mention where you want to stay when you arrive in Thailand.

With this information provided I trust you will get a lot of input - good and bad... be prepared :o

By international standards, no, it's terrible, but you don't have much of a choice.

You can get speeds of up to 8Mbps here, but they don't guarantee their advertised speed, so it's a toss-up. Additionally, internet is very expensive here compared to Western countries.

he has some choices and to give him the best advise it is indeed of importance to know where the OP will live or stay.

The OP also should mention what he has in mind. Using ADSL for business or just for fun.

It would be much easier to know the purpose first rather than to give a global answer in the first run which is indeed "terrible standard compared to other countries"

I'm just givin it to him straight so he doesn't set himself up for disappointment :o

From my experience, True internet is the most efficient and fastest when it comes to installation. Their speeds are usually also not bad, and if you're new in Thailand and don't speak Thai, the fact that their customer service representatives speak almost fluent Enlgish these days should be a huge bonus. Their coverage area is quite large too. If you live in Bangkok they'd be my number one recommendation. Having said all that, they're still crap compared to international standards. This is for personal use, btw.

I'm thinking bangkok. It would be for business for doing remote programming work and what not.

Also how are the prices for electricity & water there? I know cell phones are very affordable.

And how much will water filtration cost? Do you have to worry about it there with showering and washing dishes & such?

Can't help myself but guess your greatest concern isn't the internet but water & electricity bill...

The latter question you may post in the Bangkok forum. I am sure you get a better answer ther.

when it comes to ADSL I recommend to use a SME (small Medium Enterprise) package. Bangkok is crowded not only

from its population. With SME you are not within the crwod but it cost you more. As said before. ISP's will not guarantee the international bandwidth! but local only.

To do some hard talk. 8mb ADSL does not mean you will actually get that!

I personally have good to very good experiences with CSloxinfo. IMHO avoid everything which starts with TOT except regarding a landline...

Cheers
