Getting some really bad internet speed the last few days. less than 38KBPS on some European servers.

If you call True you get a message that says they are having equipment problems. they won't let you access a CS person at all.

Anyone have a clue whats going on?

No idea, it really comes down to your location and your package. The Thai school holidays are still not over, so their bandwidth is probably still clogged up to no end. I also know that there are a couple of LAN shops outside my apartment complex, which can be attributed to my loss in speed.

I haven't been able to download anything faster than 20kb/s internationally since the beginning of March (excluding torrents of course). I checked my local speed with the True speed test and I'm getting around 520kbps on a 5Mbps line, where as I have a friend in Nonthaburi on a 2Mbps line getting faster speeds than me. I've given up on actively hounding them to fix anything, as they never do. Just give it time and the problem magically goes away, I promise. :o

No problem here in Sukhumvit with True, working fine.

http://speedtest.adslthailand.com/ reports

Last Result:

Download Speed: 7223 kbps (902.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 861 kbps (107.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

TEST TIME:: Sunday April 19, 2009, 10:36 PM

A full dload of AVG 8.5 was at 589k so OK to the real world too.

We are talking about international speeds sir, not inside thailand. I have those speeds inside thailand as well.

Like others have said, it depends on many things... However, from what I've seen of True, international sites are slow to load especially during the evening.

I don't use True, but I've seen this occur all too often with many friends who are on True ADSL connections. Btw, are you using Windows Vista by any chance? The default TCP/IP settings in Vista are known to cause a lot of web browsing issues for many people, including myself. If you're running Vista say so, as I can offer you solutions and workarounds that will remedy the problem.
