I really need some help here. I have searched the forum and of course done a Google. To no avail.

Since a couple of days back i can't open any webpages in any browser except firefox. Firefox works just fine.

In IE, Opera and Chrome nothing happens when I go to a website. It just doesn't open. No error message.

Except sometimes there is "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error." in Chrome.

I have been using Orbit as a downloader and that one stopped working as well, but it came back after an install of a new version.

AHA! Delete program and reinstall them!!!

Nope did that and it didn't work either.

I have run Spybot S&D and Adaware and done full scan with NOD. Nothing shows.

Uninstalled ZoneAlarm and flushed my DNS. Changed between AIS DNS (EDGE connection) and open DNS, no luck there either.

I am running windows XP with service pack 3 and have auto updates enabled.

Nothing else seem stranger and all programs are working fine.

Even e-mail with outlook is working and my downloads with Vuze are coming in as usual.

Please help

Have a look in your browser's connection settings - are they all set up the same way? It may be that you either i) need to connect to your work/apartment's proxy server (if they have one) or ii) that your non-working browsers are pointing at a proxy of some kind that is no longer available.

I connedt via AIS EDGE network and I have just set my proxy to auto, didn't do any good........

There can be many causes of that issue. My post is meant only as help to debug the "Chrome issue".

assuming FF is your default browser try to set Chrome as a default browser and check whether it can connect or not.

"Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error." in Chrome

Usually this happens when the installer fails to create a temporary directory to extract installer contents.

Try to reinstall Chrome from this location http://www.google.com/support/installer/bi...y?answer=126299

Webfact,

Thanks for your reply.

I downloaded a new Chrome from your link and it did indeed start working again.

However, IE and Opera and Orbit were still unresponsive.

I read something on a support forum where they had this problem that it was usually associated with Norton.

Since I don't have norton that can't be it, but on the same forum somebody mentioned creating a new connection

from inside the browser that was working i.e. Firefox.

This seem to have solved it. My browsers are working again and Free Download Manager which I installed instead of Orbit is working too.

I don't claim to understand WHY it is working, since I haven't really done anything, but it is working. Yay!!

Thanks again for your help Webfact, it seems it had something to do with the connection anyway :o
