Country : Thailand

City or Region : Bangkok

Incident : Planned protest

Thailand: An anti-government rally by the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 25 April. Security is tight in the city following weeks of anti-government protests and the risk from violent civil unrest is high at this time. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, avoid all large gatherings and adhere to the advice of the local authorities.

Sore losers. Hopefully the numbers will be way down and they can go back home and leave the rest of the productive members of Thai society alone.

wasabi well the numbers weren't down - in fact quite impressive considering a small stage and hastily organised. So what does that say?

The numbers weren't down relative to what? Your previously reported claim of 300,000 protesters at the big rally on Bangkok on 08 April?

The Los Angeles Times just recently reported yesterday's numbers AND the numbers from the "big rally on April 8th as:

The protest at Sanam Luang, a field near Bangkok's Grand Palace, drew about 5,000 people, as predicted by organizers but far short of the estimated 100,000 who turned out for a rally April 8.
