I hope this is the right place to ask about this......

Happy to be pointed at other posts but can't seem to find the information I need and there are lots of helpful people on this forum.

I have booked a house to rent in the south of the island in August for my family. As the title states I have never been to Koh Samui and I am really looking forward to my holiday.

We don't really know what is available other than great food, good beaches and (hopefully) nice weather.

Any ideas on how to spend our time?

We would like to include the following - any recommendations on the best companies/locations

Deep sea fishing

Thai massage

Snorkling off a boat or island

Trip to another island

Drive around the island to see the real Samui

Seeing wildlife

I know there is a lot here but any suggestions welcome

Just enjoy the food, beaches and the weather take your time deep sea fishing n diving on the islands, drive around a bit and see the wildlife. Enjoy good food and at the end of the day maybe ditch the family, relax and enjoy a good massage. If thats not enough maybe go to the cinima to see a movie or go ten-pin bowling, or visit the riefel range or visit a temple or two?

Hi, Greensludge. To answer your questions. You will get a the Thai masage you like here on Samui and there are still some very nice undisturbed parts of the island. Driving arond the island is easy enough though it may pay to take one of the round the island trips if you are of a nervous disposition ha ha ha. There are some lovely waterfalls and you can go elephant treking at a few places as well.

As for a trip to another island then I would recommend a trip to the AngThong Marine park for the day. It really is beautiful.

There is no good game fishing here around Samui and you need to go to Koh Tao to do that. If you need a good guy for that PM me and I will give you his number. The same goes for the diving and snorkelling as well. The water around Samui is just too murky. You can do a day trip to Tao to snorkel around Koh Tao with both Seatran and Lomprayah, though I would sugest Seatran as it has a beter boat and friendlier staff, but thats just my opinion.

Also there is no diving arond Samui so Tao is the place to go for that. It has some of the best diving in the gulf. It would be worth a couple of days there in itself as its a very beautiful small island. I hope that has helped a little, Enjoy :o
