a friend of mine wants to spend a couple of nights in the Pimalai Resort on Koh Lanta and asked me where to book since on their website prices are ambitious....

Do you have any ideas about whether some travel agency offers discounts for this specific place?

Pimalai Resort is probably one, if not THE most up market resorts on Lanta, and their prices will reflect this accordingly.

I doubt the have dealings with local travel shops as most of their punters come straight from Farangland.

Get your friend to call them, it's the tail-end of a poor season so they might have some good deals.

Pimilai is over the top expensive because it is one of the most luxurious resorts in all of Southern Thailand. You have your own private pool attached to the suite.

If you still want really nice but not that extravagant, check Layana Resort Koh Lanta.
