If your pc can't make a connection to the google ad server the page will normally fail to load as it can't insert the javascript. I was writing a piece of software to serve adverts to different websites a long time ago and for this reason I decided not to go ahead with it as it introduces a single point of failure. Then google adwords came along and it didn't seem to bother them so much if sites don't load due to server connections not being available.

Hi I was trying to down load some photos the other night and i got an on screen notice saying, that it could not connect, as i might be using an old version of javascript, or it wasn't turned on. I checked both. I have the up to date version of Java, + Javascript was enabled. Could this be the same problem. ? Sorry I am not to up to date with Computers.

Hi All,

Is anyone else having problems opening the Ads by Google pages on Thaivisa ?

Cheers jb1

I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you saying you cannot load ThaiVisa pages that includes Google ads? Or you can load the pages, but you just don't see the ads? Is it possible you are blocking the doubleclick.net domain?

To track it down, view source on the pages you can't load and try to load individual pieces to see what happens. By that I mean, search for links that look like http://partner.googleadservices.com/gampad/google_service.js and load them directly. This javascript won't run, but it will let you know if your browser is at least able to get the javascript.

Do you see the actual ads, or just the image that says "Ads by Google". When I hover my mouse over the ads, they go to some http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net link. When I hover over the "Ads by Google" image, it goes to http://www.google.com with what looks like a redirect to http://services.google.com . I assume you can go to www.google.com, but for some reason your DNS may not be resolving doubleclick.net correctly. Try the links I posted. The doubleclick.net one should go to a page that says "Nothing to see here". If it says address not found, then we know it's your browser's resolver.

At that point, you have to try other things like trying to resolve the address outside of your browser or use a different browser to see if it works correctly.

Hi, I clicked on ads by google. Site opened this time. Reading through I decided to click on, preferences manager. Got the same address not found message. I think it must be Mozilla? I tried the link that you sent and just got a load of writing, with nothing to click on. As I said earlier I am not up to scratch with computers. But it looked like a binery file?

If it doesn't work on Internet Explorer, then it sounds like it definitely is a DNS issue. You can verify this by bringing up a cmd window (Go to start menu -> Run -> CMD). Then on the command line type nslookup doubleclick.net. You should get back a few lines. The first server line is your DNS (Domain Name Service) server, the second is your DNS server's address. After that, you should see the name and address of the doubleclick.net server. If they don't exist, then you know it's a problem with your DNS server...probably on your ISP. If you do see an address for doubleclick.net, then it's your browser.

After that, you are on your own.

Hi daveh, ads by google opened on Internet Explorer ok. I will look into your latest suggestions and see what happens? It really is not so important. So will leave it at that.
