Thaivisa Information Wrong About International Driver's License

Recommended Posts

I just got back from the DMV near Chatujak where I got my international license. I went with my residence letter in hand--it cost me 200 baht and a trip to immigration.

When I got there, they asked if I had a work permit, which I do. They asked for copies of that. I never was required to present the residence certificate.

Could someone from ThaiVisa please change the information on this page:

http://www.thaivisa.com/320.0.html

You could save some people a trip to immigration and some money.

Here's the offending text:

International Driver's License

If you would like to apply for an International Driver's License you have to provide the following documents:

1. Passport with Non-immigrant Visa Present

2. a letter of current residence certified by an Embassy of your Country.

3. * Thai Driver's License (Private Motor Car). If you don't have a Thai Driver's licence please refer to the previous instructions on getting a Thai driver's license.

4. 2 Photos, 2 X 2 Inches

5. Fee 505 Baht

* Not Required

Also, the 'not required' part is not very clear. What is not required? A Thai driver's license?

Moved to forum support and edited tilte, (residency permit into letter of residence).

Thanks for your for pointing it out. We are currently working on revising the information on our mainpage and will correct it.

In the original listing of what is required it should say

Work permit or Proof of residence.

The OP used the WP, but what about if you do not have a WP, i.e Retirement Visa, then you

will need a letter of residence.

Or yellow Tabien Bahn.

Also last time I renewed my licenses they took photos at the motor office and gave me a plastic licenses.
