Chiangrai United Football Academy

For many boys a dream!

The academy is under supervision of Lehonos dos Santos, the successful

Brasilian coach of the Thai National Team Under 16. This team participated

in the qualification round for the Asian Football Confederation Championship

this year and ended first in its group. Only against Laos a point was lost.

Among others Australia was beaten (2-1). The finals will take place next year.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . post-6305-0-58436600-1321865648_thumb.jp

During the month December Chiangrai United organizes this academy for two

age groups, namely 7 - 12 years and 13 - 17 old.

For both groups there are two choices concerning time:

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 17.00 to 18.30

Periode 2 to 30 December, 26 hours total.

Every Saturday and Sunday from 8.00 to 10.00

Periode 3 December to 1 January, 20 hours total

During the academy the boys will learn basic knowledge about the elements of the game,

its rules, fair play, tactics and teamwork. The technical side will focus on the development

of skills and ball controle.

Boys with special talents have the chance to be accepted by the youth department of CRUtd,

so participation can in theory even lead to a professional football career.

During last month there have been clinics in several areas of the province with the purpose

to promote football among youngsters. These clinics and the first official football academy

of Chiang Rai will be the seeds of the football school that in near future will be founded

by Chiangrai United FC.

So if you have a son, you might decide to give him a chance. But you might also be willing to

sponsor a boy that is not your son :)

Maybe your family or the teacher at school can help you further.

As it is the first academy ever in Chiang Rai, the contribution is reduced from 1200 to 950 Baht.

The first 100 registrations will hold a bonus: a Chiangrai United package with a value of 540 Baht.

At this moment the location hasn't been decided upon, but it will be in town.

Thanks MahNuad for your reaction!

In the mean time also the location is known. The football academy will

take place on the pitches of The Arena, the seven-to-seven artificial

grasscourts next to Big C in front of the driving range that you might

have seen many times from the parking place of Big C.

I just sent you an e-mail with the telephone numbers of the

Chiangrai United fanshop about five hundred meters north

of Den Ha at the left side (the 'old Chiang Mai road'

or Thanon Dong Ma Da), about hundred meter before the

old Christian Churchyard at the right).

You can't miss it: The logo of the club is omnipresent!

At this shop you can register.

In case of coming down the hill from the Chiang Rai Saddlebags

shop where now also the Sausage King products are sold it is

to the right and then after hundred meters at your left.

As it is the policy of the owners of this forum not to accept

that telephone numbers are published here, I just want to say

that everybody is welcome to send me a PM or an e-mail and I send

you the numbers where you can ask for more specific information..

And please everybody: Pass the information on to the fathers

that don't visit this forum.

Chiangrai United vs Bangkok Glass

Only six games left this season of which three at home:

Sunday November 27 against Bangkok Glass,

December 10 against Osotspa-Saraburi and the last one,

the thriller of the year, January 7 against PEA-Buriram.

So far no topper of the Thai Premier League managed to take home any

points from Chiang Rai. Muangthong, now in second position, lost 2 - 1

and Chonburi, in third position lost 4 - 3.

It will be interesting to see tomorrow if Chiangrai United manages to

take the full three points again, this time against the number four on

the list.

Last week at home Bangkok Glass didn't do better than a meager 0 - 0

against Pattaya United, a club that lost 3 - 1 here in Chiang Rai.

The last home game of Chiangrai United was the one against Chonburi,

maybe the best game of the year so far, that resulted in a win.

Rabbits welcome!

It was a very good game, of both sides.

BG took the lead after 12 minutes, but CRUtd came back

three minutes before tea (a penalty).

15 Minutes into the second half again a player of CRUtd

was floored within the penalty area and CRUtd scored also

this time from the 11 meter spot.

Twelve minutes before the end of ordinary time CRUtd

deserved its third penalty, but as the second was already

heavily and theatrically questioned by players and staff

of BG the referee chose not to award this one.

The second half was extended with 5 minutes extra time and

in the last ten seconds of this extra time BG scored the

equalizer, 2 - 2 ...

Great work of our Brasilian goalkeeper Alonso Carvalho, who

at least at two moments managed to avoid more serious damage

to our position on the table.

Chiangrai United is now holding the nineth position in the

Thai Premier league, but Sisaket and Thai Port played two

games less and could bridge the difference.

Hereby I want to nominate Brasilian Leandro Assumpção for the

honorable title of:

"Chiangrai Uniteds Johnny Rep"

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .post-6305-0-10053100-1322451651_thumb.jp

Leandros enormous speed and brilliant ball controle remembers

about Johnny. The way he drives his opponents completely crazy

with his ball ballet is incredible.

A beautiful player, a joy for the eye!

For those among you who don't know Johnny Rep:

He played many years in Ajax Amsterdam with legendary Johan Cruyff

and after that in French St. Etienne with Michel Platini, currently

president of UEFA.

He took part in two worldchampionship finals, 1974 in Western

Germany and 1978 in Argentina.

Alltogether he had not less than 42 times the orange shirt of the

Dutch National team around his shoulders.

It was a Chiangrai forum member, that asked him to put on an orange

shirt again, but this time not the one of the Dutch National Team

but of his own good old Chiangrai United!

Thanks Leandro, thanks Johnny!

RIP Duke!

'Duke', Chiangrai United's general manager, passed away.

Always happy and inspiring to everybody who met him.

He finished his studies at Chula last year and was since

a couple of months at work for CRUtd.

A tragical car accident took him away, 24 years old.

He was a man with a clear vision. One of his new projects

was the foundation of a football academy for Chiang Rai.

As Duke will live on in our memories, so will also his

thoughts and spirit in the future of our club.

After our fans die a few months ago from the bus crash i was hoping we'll never have to face the lost again. Yet today it started all over, to loose a great member of the family.

May he rest in peace. He will always be remember.

The game is over.

In the 23th minute Leontin Chitescu shot from about 25 meters out of a free kick

the first goal for Chiangrai United.

The ball went through the wall and one of the players of Thai Port touched it

sligtly, leaving the goaly without a chance.

In the two minutes extra time of the first half Thai Port came alongside.

It was also the end result, Thai Port versus Chiangrai United 1 - 1.

For the second time in eight days we lost two points in extra time...

All we can say is that Chiangrai United succesfully defended its nineth position

in the Thai premier league.

Leandro went down within the penalty area but the referee was more than twenty

meters away...

Osotspa Saraburi against Sisaket starts now. Only if Sisaket would win of Saraburi

this position could be threatened.

This game is not broadcasted. Pattaya Khon Kaen is (True Channel 69) and evenso

Phichit Siam Navy (NBT 11).

Chiangrai United versus Osotspa-Saraburi

This Sunday: Chiangrai United's last but one home game of the season!

+ + + + + + + + + + 18.00 at MFL University Stadium + + + + + + + + + +

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . post-6305-0-77300300-1323481243_thumb.jp

Osotspa-Saraburi (sponsored by M-150) has played 28 games so far and collected 43

points along the way. It holds now the fifth position in the Thai premier League.

Last week the team won at home against Sisaket 2 to 1. A week before that however,

away the team didn't come further than a 1 to 1 draw against Sriracha, a quite solid

relegation candidate, that has the dubious honour to play against merciless topper

PEA Buriram today (if you want to be a personal wittness of what could become a

Zagreb versus Lyon tragedy: true sport 2, channel 102 at 18.00).

Chiangrai United entered the pitch so far not less than 30 times already and managed

to get together a proud 30 points doing so, enough for holding the tenth position in

the Thai top league. The last two games, against Bangkok Glass and Thai Port ended

in a draw. Both times Chiangrai United lost the dearly needed two winning points in extra

time. Very sad, but undeniable true! It's in the line of expectations that Edvaldo 'Andy'

Pereira will stand inbetween the lines again, the striker that for unclear reasons got three

matches 'off' after his two yellow cards in the game against Thai Police.

By the way: The match Osotspa-Saraburi versus Chiangrai United, that was played

May 29 this year ended in a draw, 0 - 0.

The coach patatoes among us can see the match at home, probably at NBT channel 11.

All others are recommended to come early to the stadium. The picture below has been

taken two weeks ago (against Bangkok Glass) about a quarter of an hour before the game

started. The time that the fans were still walking in during the first quarter of the

game is definitely over; you are now one out of at least seven thousand that wants a seat!

Also the big stand at the opposite side and the extra stands that now almost are circling

the short ends of the field are almost totally occupied. So be in time!

(also the game against Bangkok Glass), not easy to find an empty seat 555!

He came from Portland Oregon, where he played for the Portland Timbers

when they were still active in the second tier of the professional American

football pyramid. His name is Ojimi Gabriel "O.J." Obatola, born in

1987 in Lagos (Nigeria).

A brilliant player, somewhere remembering of our former Ghanese player

Adu Gyamfi, fast as a spear and always dangerous. Now he is forward of

Pattaya United and in that function he was the man of the evening

during the home-game of his team against Chiangrai United last Saturday.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . post-6305-0-77706800-1324298185_thumb.jp

During the first half he did a beautiful act of 'chakkajan akaas' (air-bicycling)

as an overhead kick is called by our Thai friends. Simply a masterpiece, no

discussion about that and his second goal, in the second half, might not have

been as spectacular as the first one but certainly was a beauty of its own.

The game ended 3 - 0 in favor of the Dolphins, well deserved as they played

rather good. For that matter: Pattaya United's chairman is mr. Sontaya Kunplome

(not to be mistaken for his brother mr. Wittaya Kunplome, who is in charge of

another Thai premier League club, namely Chonburi FC or their brother mr. Ittiphol

Kunplome, the mayor of Pattaya or even with their sister Mrs. Sukumol Kunplome,

Thailands minister of Culture).

The biggest problem for the players of Chiangrai United wasn't the concerted efforts

of their opponents, but they were incredibly ill served by the referee of the match

who chose the center circle as his orientatien area. It seemed as if he never went

away from it for more than ten meters. This might have been the reason that he didn't

see the hands ball of the Pattaya player in front of an empty goal or the tackle with

which 'Boy' was floored within the eleven meter area. This tackle wasn't the only one

he missed, as the little video report below shows.

It could be considered understandable if those who wittnessed the game would have

arrived at the conclusion that he seemed to act as a 'home referee', but it is very

well possible that he didn't see what happened because he simply was too far away.

If a good referee, who tries to stay within fifteen meters of the ball, runs ten to

twelve kilometers during a game, he should have good oversight. This referee clearly

thought that six to seven kilometers would do. Really a pity that this had to happen.

It shouldn't happen in the Thai Premier League, it should happen nowhere!

Pattaya moved to the fifth position and Chiangrai United seems to be consolidating

the nineth position of the eightteen teams counting Thai Premier League.

Only Sisaket and Thai Port can still threaten this position as they played two resp

one game less.

To those wondering when the next and last game of the season 2011 will be:

............................................................post-6305-0-78905800-1326434160_thumb.jp

Players and staff of Chiangrai United thought at the beginning of the season that the team could end in eight

position at the end of the ride. At that moment nobody knew yet about all the difficulties that Chiangrai United

would have to encounter during last year. Especially the forced deportation to Chiang Mai for the home games

was a real setback and cost us indirectly many points.

The reason was that officials serving in the Royal Thai Police had seen fans drinking beer on the stands of the

Mae Fah Luang University Stadium and drinking beer is forbidden on Thai university campuses.

This was probably the argument that was used to force Chiangrai United to go and play their home games in

the 700 Year Anniversary Stadium of Chiang Mai. The team was simply not allowed in the stadium anymore.

Also the risc that opponents would smuggle in beer cans and have themselves photographed with them was

present. Chiangrai United had to move, even if the disastrous accident where seven of our fans lost their lives

on the way to the away game in Buriram showed the danger of long bus trips for the fans.

Some students of Mae Fah Luang University, who were supporters of Chiangrai United at the same time,

argued that also at parties of the highest echelon of the university sometimes alcoholic beverages were

served. The people concerned got very angry about this and the students had to apologize.

At the beginning of the second leg of last year's league the situation had changed and Chiangrai United could,

after some face-saving rituals, play it's home games in Chiang Rai again at the same stadium as before.

And the fans came back: Every game the stadium is completely full.

All the disasters of last year aside: If Chiangrai United wins against Buriram the team ends in that 8th position!

The game will gave a special load: At home PEA Buriram beat Chiangrai United 5 - 0. The morning of that

same day seven of our fans died in the bus accident.

Buriram won in the second half, after the referee had sent the Chiangrai goaly away with a red card for

reasons not everybody understood.

It will be an exiting game!

so we have a new season started. and the match reports .......seems they no longer exist.

watching the repeat of the weekend game between crai and bec tero. watching it again. watched it live on sunday.

the owner must be considering a new approach to his team. hair pulling and emotional outbursts from the coach must be disturnbing.

especially when seen throughout the countryvia television and when the team, so early in the season, are fighting to stay in the tpl.

early days you might say, but the performances so far have me wondering if i am watching crutd or chiang rai fc. inept tactical and technical displays.

back in the 2nd division and on the way to the tpl, we were able to see a true team effort and spirit. a team physically able to compete for 90 minutes, and the desire to win. now? hmmmmm. the manager/owner needs to think long and hard about his investment for it is surely not being returned by the current structure of team development. 3 games 1 point equals failure at some area. the team is not performing to its ability or its monetary worth........a long hard look at all aspects of the playing/ coaching structure is surely needed. there is more to owning/managing a team than marketing. and even on that front, marketing may not be enough to fill seats with a disfunctioning team.

harsh words maybe....but harsh actions are required to get crutd to where, with the team and players they have, to where they should be.

it was a close game lost 3/2....the key word being lost. there was not a lot to be happy with. tactically, and again technically.

uilian staying on the field after such a knock being one of the tactical errors that stood out likedogs testes. fresh legs and a new style maybe would have given the team an edge. uilian is a good player, but sometimes you need to change things up. and if there isn't a player to step in, what depth does the squad have? scary to contemplate.

go crutd. i will cheer no matter what

it is a rather far stretched assumpton that i only like football so therefore am an inferior dot on this earth.

people who enter chat rooms and assault the english language such as crmanje get on my goat. but . i would never say i dislike the man. that being the difference between people who can civilly socialise, and those with a deficient sense of humour. there is a difference between opinion and insult.

I don't think that's what he said VF.

He made a statement that he dislikes people who like football. plain and simple.

I'm not a big spectator of the sport myself, I'm not a big spectator of anything really, except for maybe Womens Gymnastics . I'd rather take part, but it still puts me in the catagory of people he Dislikes along with probably a Billion or more people he hasn't actually met. Most of us would ignore such a post and put it down to a bit of mischief but to actually defend someone for saying it , and in a Football ONLY focused Thread is quite Bizarre IMNSHO . And ofcourse I'm entitled to my Opinion ;-)

Can’t you guys read? He said, “I don’t like football”. He also explained that his reason for not liking people who like football is that they spend too much time talking about it.

I don’t see any references to “inferior dots” or any assumptions that anyone only likes football. I can’t see how not liking something makes one disrespectful either.

Perhaps he could have put a more positive spin on it by saying “I like people who don’t like football” but that wouldn’t really change his opinion on football or make it any more palatable to those who are overly sensitive about their religion sport. Believe it or not some people don't like football. Get over it.biggrin.png

Jubby, you're back! I heard a rumour you'd be home soon and now here you are. And not just back in CR but back in thaivisa land too! When we going for a beer?

VF, for someone who uses words so eloquently I'm surprised on this ocassion, can't you read? He said 'I also don't like people that like football because that is the only thing they can talk about.' He didn't say he didn't like people who only talk about football (soccer), he said he didn't like people that like football (soccer) and then gave his reason. What about people who don't like football (soccer) but still talk about it? What about people, like my good self, that like football (soccer) but rarely talk about it? To say that every person who likes football (soccer) only talks about football (soccer) is crazy talk. It's like saying that everyone with a dog only talks about their dog. Some people with dogs talk about their dogs, others don't. And you have to admit that it's a bit odd that someone who dislikes football (soccer) so much makes a post in a football thread!

Edited so that VF knows what sport is being discussed.

Oh come on VF, don't be like that! I woke up in such a happy mood too after another night of rain and now I'm as depressed as when CR thought it was Chernobyl.

Well you can't be p1ssed off about my opinion as everyone is allowed an opinion so it must be the football/soccer jesting? In that case I apologise, as every American I've ever met called football soccer I thought you might be the same but it seems like you knew already.

And I'll refrain from replying in topics you are also active in from now on as you might get upset, thought you were thicker-skinned than that VF!
