January 31, 200521 yr I have dual US and Irish citizenship. I am planning on traveling to Thailand and teaching English there for a little while, and I am also going to be traveling in surrounding countries (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, etc). I am going to get a one year visa (multiple-entry Non-Immigrant B with each of the 4 entries good for a 3-month period) through the TEFL course I plan on taking (Teach and Talk in Chiang Mai). My question is, should I use my Irish citizenship to get this Visa or my US one. I will be flying out of the US. Also, when applying for Visa's for the other countries, which passport should I use? I want to fly into Vietnam and travel through Cambodia before taking the class, so I am assuming I would get my Vietnam Visa before I leave as well (is this the best course of action?). Is it better to use my Irish passport? Thanks! Rebecca
January 31, 200521 yr What ever you do in Asia, make sure you use the SAME passport when you travel between countries. Most immigration people are stamp happy and like to see stamp trails. Doing the ole passport swap isn't a good idea most of the time, particularly when you travel overland. In my experience, the Irish tend to get a better deal that most/all other nationalites, as it is a pretty small harmeless, yet affluent country. But when it comes to Asia, there may not be much of a difference. Edited January 31, 200521 yr by samran
